Hello Waves
Families!
Welcome back from our first
weekend of competition! While it may have been early in the
year, we sure had a great time.
Fall Frenzy Meet -- The
Breakdown:
272
best times from 61 swimmers.
1
Relay Team Record (B. Albuquerque, M. Beck, N. Endebrock, J.
Williams)
5
Individual Team Records (Matt Stapleton)
And
30 Event Winners! Great work team!
The
coaches were pretty impressed by the end result. Early season
meets are hard to judge, but we felt that our team swam
tough. Thank you parents who sacrificed your weekend to drive
your swimmers over to the meet, I can’t wait to show you all
what your kids will be able to do later in the season.

sinking!
Most
Improved…AGAIN!
For the third season in a row (2008 Long Course,
2009 Short Course, and 2009 Long Course), the Spokane Waves won the
Most Improved Team Award in Inland Empire Swimming (based on
percentage improved in
National Ranking) . Over the past 2+ years, our club has
skyrocketed to become one of the top 500 clubs in the
country—a huge accomplishment considering there are about
2500 active clubs throughout the USA! At the end of 2007, we
were ranked around 1000th in the country and finished
5th in Inland Empire. We are now 486th,
and are fighting it out to hold onto 2nd place in Inland
Empire. For the first time in club history, we finished ahead
of our dear friends at Spokane Area Swimming! Congratulations
to all swimmers, coaches, and parents for this huge
accomplishment. Let’s keep the momentum
going!
Sylvia’s
Order
The Team Order with our supplier, Sylvia’s
Swim Wear, is due October 11. Please check out the Parent Education tab to see what the coaching
staff has recommended for swimmers to order for each group.

Training Tip of the
Week
Every length of the pool starts with a push off
from the wall. Carrying your speed from your wall into the
stroke is essential for fast, efficient swimming. In Short
Course swimming (25 yard pools), approaching and exiting walls make
up almost 40% of your race. A simple and easy way to improve
is to simply focus on approaching the wall with intensity, turning
quickly and properly, pushing off correctly¸ and working hard
to carry that speed into your swimming. Every wall at every
practice offers swimmers the opportunity to work on their
walls. Take advantage of those opportunities, and we guarantee
that you’ll see some time drops!
We were so proud of you guys
this past weekend. We can’t wait to see how this season
goes--we are truly on a path to achieving some pretty awesome
things this year!
