Marlins Win in Decisive Fashion in First Superleague Meet





Swimmers from the pre-senior, varsity and senior groups combined forces and won in decisive fashion at the first Superleague Dual Meet held at the Folsom Aquatic Center September 27th. The final score was Terrapins 97, Pleasanton 118 and the Marlins with 285 points. Our most powerful statement came in the relays where we won three out of the four. In the male 400 medley, Weston Landre, Ryan Studebaker, James Ramirez and Josh Choi combined to win in 3:36.25. In the 200 free relay, Sophie Weber, Mikayla Winkler, Stephanie Klotz and Alexandra Whitford came out on top with a 1:40.63. Weston Landre, Josh Choi, Ryan Studebaker and James Ramirez won the male 200 free relay in 1:31.22.


In individual competition, Weston Landre led the charge by winning all three of his races including the 100 back, 200 back and 100 free. Alexandra Whitford led the girls with wins in the 50 and 100 free and a second place finish in the 100 fly. Other event winners included Dallin Johnson who won the1000 free and 500 free and finished second in the 400 IM. Josh Choi won the 200 free and 400 IM and placed second in the 200 breast. Postgrad James Ramirez came all the way from San Luis Obispo to win the 100 fly and 200 fly as well as finish second in the 100 free. Gabrielle Rossbach won the 200 fly and was third in the 100 fly. Ryan Studebaker won both the 100 and 200 breast and was second in the 200 free.

Dylan Kubick: 200 fly second place

Dana Lohman: 100 breast third place

Brandon Mills: 100 breast third place

Angel Prat: 200 fly third place

Maddy Velez: 1000 free third place

Sophie Weber: 100 free second place

Mikayla Winkler: 1000 free second place, 100 free third place, 500 free third place

This was truly a team effort with 25 different athletes contributing to the point score. What a great start to the season! Our next Superleague dual meet is with Palo Alto and Pleasanton in Palo Alto on October 24th. The key will be participation from everyone eligible. Please show your commitment to our team and make the trip to Palo Alto and help us go undefeated in the Superleague!
