Friends of Team Alcatraz and F.A.S.T.,
There is much to share, starting with the headlines:
- For 2010, The Alcatraz swim is April 10 and Golden Gate is
April 11.
- We’ve outgrown our name. Team Alcatraz doesn’t
quite explain the weekend anymore, so we’ve rechristened as
Swim F.A.S.T.
- With a different name comes the inspiration to expand and
improve for this year, starting with you!
The previous years’ events have been blessed with media
coverage and participation from great families in the Arizona
swimming community. In 2010, we’re looking to go above and
beyond even that.
Our goals for 2010:
- More total swimmers (kids and adults),
- More mentors (adults who pair with a kid throughout training
and for the event(s)), and
- Greater connection all around (among all participants and with
the mission of F.A.S.T.).
This isn’t just a weekend or pair of events. Together
we’re building a community of people escaping their
limitations, connecting to the mission of F.A.S.T. and opening
doors to greater possibilities. That’s something worth
spreading.
We need your help to get it done. I have two immediate requests:
- Join us for the 2010 swims. Your continuing presence means so
much to Bob Roper, the Swim F.A.S.T. Team and to the F.A.S.T.
Foundation.
Click here to read the current information we have for 2010,
and let us know that your interested by filling out a
web-based form found here.
- Pass this message on to friends. You know who they are.
They’re the ones who called you crazy in past years, or the
ones who said they’d have done it with you if they’d
known ahead of time. Well, now they will! Forward this email to
family members, to your child’s friends/classmate, to other
adults and to athletes who are up for new challenges. Post a link to the Swim F.A.S.T.
website from your Facebook status page. Tweet it. Why not?
It’s fun.
Our first group meeting for Swim F.A.S.T. 2010 is scheduled for
November 1 in the afternoon, with details on location and exact
time to come soon. We’d love to have a great crowd of
returning and new swimmers then.
Let’s keep it going. Let’s all Swim F.A.S.T. 2010,
Joe
