Emily
Cameron has been selected by USA Swimming to attend the 2009
Speedo National Select Camp held at the Olympic Training Center in
Colorado Springs, Colorado from October 29- November
1. Swimmers are invited based on the top two 2009 Long course
meter times in the country in each Olympic event for females 13-14
and males 13-16. A total of 60 swimmers from throughout
the US will participate in the camp.
Cameron competed
in the USA Speedo Junior National meet in August in Federal Way,
Washington. Swimmers must be 18 or under and meet qualifying
time criteria. Emily swam in 5 events returning to finals
twice. Her time of 1.11.39 in the 100 meter breast earned her
an 8th place medal (3rd in the country for a
14 year old). In the 400 I.M., she swam another personal best
by over 8 seconds to finish 13th in 4:52.56 (another 3rd
in the country for a 14 year old). She also swam
the 200 breast, 2:34.57, 200 I.M., 2.21.62 and 50 free 27.43 (all
long course meters).
The National
Select Camp will give Cameron the opportunity to learn from past
Olympians and train with the best swimmers in her age group from
around the country. She will also have access to all of the
cutting edge technology available to swimmers
today.
