Team Pictures
Thanks to Paul McDonald for taking on the task of our team pictures again this year. We appreciate all that he does for this team and look forward to seeing him again at our upcoming meets/events.
Personalized caps are in!!
All personalized caps are in and have been separated by family. Each age group coach will be able to distribute them. The caps will be given to the oldest child in your family. So, if you have multiple children on the team, they will go to that group’s coach. If you have a problem with your order, please call Kast-a-ways at 777-7967.
Registration Deadline Approaching
The deadline to register your swimmer(s) on our website for the Larry Lyons Meet is tomorrow! This meet is Nov. 6-8th at our YMCA. Please take care of this if you haven’t done so already. If you have any questions about how to do this, please contact either your individual coach or the Cathi in the swim team office (474-1400). Kast-a-way will be in the dome both Sat. and Sun. of this meet. We are looking into having childcare on both Sat. and Sun. from Noon-4:00pm.
Interested in “shadowing” for a job position?
If you are interested in shadowing one of our announcers, meet directors, or timing system operators, at the Oct. 24th Virtual meet, please contact K-T Overbey at overbey@fuse.net. We need individuals to fill certain positions at the Larry Lyons meet in November. If you have not fulfilled your 2 session meet worker requirement, this would be a good opportunity to learn a new job and fill a spot still available. If you do shadow, this will count as a worker requirement.
New Parent Meeting Date
We have 29 new families this season! These families either started with us this summer or are new this fall. We will be holding a new parent meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 21st at 6:00pm in the big room downstairs at the Y. This is a good meeting to attend to find out more about the team, our philosophy, goals, and structure, etc.
Virtual YMCA National Invitational
Our first meet will be on Saturday, Oct. 24th at our YMCA. General meet information has been posted to our website under this event. More detailed information will be posted when it becomes available to us. We are looking into having childcare provided from 9-2:00pm on this date. We will confirm everything soon.
Swim-a-thon
Our annual swim-a-thon is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 26th. Please see our website (home page) for the time slots for each practice group. Your group’s age group coordinator will be contacting you as to food/drink items they need supplied for this event. All forms associated with this event are also available on our website. It is each family’s responsibility to print these and turn them in on time along with any checks/cash. New this year: we are not billing any businesses!! Therefore, you will need to collect money upfront from businesses that give you ads for the Larry Lyons Heat Sheet. If you do not get the money at the beginning, it will be your responsibility to collect and turn in this money by Oct. 26th. All heat sheet covers have been sold!!
Interested in becoming an official???
If you have any interest in becoming an official, please contact Jon Saxton for more details. His e-mail is: jsaxton@rendigs.com.
ABLY pictures needed
I would love to receive pictures of our swimmers (in groups of 4 or more) for the website. I have been trying to rotate different photos of the various practice groups on our home page. You can either put them on a flash drive and put it in my file folder outside the swim team office or e-mail me (csander@zoomtown.com) pictures as attachments in jpeg format.
Special Olympics Volunteers Needed
Our YMCA is hosting their annual Special Olympics Swim Meet on Saturday, Nov. 14th in the afternoon. If you are interested in helping out, please contact the swim team office at 474-1400. They are asking for volunteers who are 8th grade and above. Last year several of our swimmers helped walk athletes to the block, time, and hand out awards. This is a good opportunity for attaining service hours for National Jr. Honor Society and National Honor Society. The following swimmers have volunteered to help at this event: Morgan Contino, Emma Haynes, Molly Hazelbaker, Ju Ju Overbey, Kara Sander, Emma Siegel, Cara Wethington and Elizabeth Williams.
