On the weekend of September 26 & 27, 13
Marlin swimmers traveled “up the hill” to the Penguin
Plunge meet in Grass Valley. The Penguin Meet is always a fun meet
for our younger swimmers, and this year was no exception.
Mini Marlins Mara Allen, Sierra Crews, Bryce
Hubbard, and Kellen Jones, and
Developmental swimmers Kyle Garcia and Macey Deruelle had
remarkable performances in their first meet as Marlins! Following their lead, Developmental swimmers
Cassidy Jones, Ilyas Kiziloglu, Kyle Lehr, Jorden Miller, Kevin
Mitchell, and Jennifer Thompson showed impressive improvements from
last year’s swims. Black/Red
swimmer Allena Thompson supported her sister on Sunday, and had an
excellent follow-up day to Saturday’s Open Water swim, especially on the 100 back.
Both 8 and under boys relay teams placed first
(Medley Relay: Kellen Jones, Ilyas Kiziloglu, Kevin
Mitchell, and Kyle Garcia; Freestyle Relay: Kyle Lehr, Bryce Hubbard, Kyle Garcia and
Kevin Mitchell). The girls 8 and under
Medley Relay team (Jennifer Thompson, Jorden
Miller, Sierra Crews, Macey Deruelle) placed third, while the Freestyle Relay team (Jorden Miller, Mara Allen,
Jennifer Thompson, and Cassidy Jones) placed fourth.

25 free and 25 back.
Bryce Hubbard – first place finish in
6UN 25 Free and 25 Back
Coach Barbara would like to congratulate all
13 swimmers for their great effort, and on their constant
demonstration of good sportsmanship!
Not only did these swimmers swim hard and cheer each other on, but
they also independently gave high 5s to swimmers in other
lanes. Congratulations on a great start
to the short course season!
