Congratulations to all our award winners! The 2009 Island Swimming Awards Night was a huge success with approximately 230 people in attendance when all was said and done. This event allows us the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the success of our swimmers, coaches and our club in general. The 2008-2009 season was the most successful for Island Swimming to date and we had a lot to celebrate.

The highlight of the evening was recognizing Rick Say as he announces his retirement from swimming. With 3 Olympics under his belt and many more accolades, we are honoured that he represented Island Swimming for nearly12 years. He continues to give back to the sport of swimming through his Bust out Swim Trophy and Scholarship. Also, we are thrilled to now have him on deck, sharing his knowledge and love of the sport with our younger competitive swimmers.

A special thank you to Karen Bradley who helped coordinate the entire evening and the many volunteers who assisted her; Cindy Mabee (trophies and awards), Don Sutton (DVD presentations including Rick Say recognition)   Alex Brothers (event photographer and photo slide show), Carl Repp (MC), Amanda Longcroft (shopping), John Cochrane and Trevor Bradley (food delivery), Karen Rogers (flowers, set up and kitchen help), Sherrie and Randy Wickware (set up), Dianne Walter (set up and kitchen help). Andrea Kent (Program, kitchen help), Christl Bradley (front door check-in) and all our volunteer servers, Suzie Sylvester, Donna Cochrane, Sherrie Wickware, Jiven Langlois, and finally Julie Bagshaw who helped get the food out and did a lot of the clean up. The Lasagna was prepared by Goldstream Catering and sound system was all provided and set up by Sharps Audio Visual

Also, thank you to anyone I missed including all the swimmers who helped clean up the tables after dinner and to the many people who stuck around to help with clean up for a few minutes at the end of the evening.
