SWIMMING OFFICIALS' CLINICS ANNOUNCED!

Swim Parents (swimmers please print or tell your parents),

Have you ever seen a football game without referees?
A baseball game without umpires???
Can you imagine what one of these games would be like without officials??

What is an official?
Officials - provides fairness for all.
Officials - know the rules and is able to recognize and call infractions.
“Perks” of being an Official:
You’ll be working with the greatest group of volunteers in all sports.
You’ll be close to the action. The bleachers aren’t comfortable anyway!
High satisfaction: low pay.
It’s a great way to meet future Olympians – unless you already have one in your home
Why become an Official?
·        DO it for your swimmers.
·        DO it for and with your High School.
·        IT’S BETTER than sitting in stand/snack bar,
·        BENEFITS of being an official, gives you a better understanding of the rules to which swimmers must conform.
·        FRIENDSHIPS are made and kept for a lifetime

High School (and age group) officials are needed for the Farmington area. As of today, we have two certified officials for high school (and they no longer have kids in school). We have three age-group officials (who will be training to become high school officials). So, we need some parents to come help us officiate.  There is always that possibility that we may not be able to host a meet because we don’t have enough officials.  Please contact Elodie Larson to sign up or to ask questions (see below). Please pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested.

The purpose of this email is to notify all NMAA swimming officials of the upcoming swimming district clinics to be held throughout the state at the end of this month.  They are as follows:

Saturday, October 24, 2009

Farmington Aquatic Center

Start Time:  9:00 a.m.
