Dear Parents,
It’s great to be back following our
weekend at the Eastern States Swim Coaches Clinic. We heard some
great speakers including Mark Schubert, Sean Hutchinson, Bob Bowman
and Peter Clark. Also, we watched Brandon Hanson, Rebecca Soni and
Dara Torres demonstrate some useful stroke drills that we continue
to incorporate into our practices. Attending USA Swimming’s
Club Leadership & Business School has allowed us to obtain
Level 2 of USA Swimming’s Club Recognition Program and we are
well on our way to Level 3!
Fundraising
Any questions about fundraising should be sent
to Tom at Fundraising@CondorsSwimming.com.
Also, Tom will be at Felix Festa tomorrow (Wednesday, October
21st) from 5-6pm. Parents are encouraged to pick up
raffle tickets and the entertainment books either tomorrow or this
weekend at the meet. Grace Brown is the contact for WCC and can
also be reached by emailing gebrown@us.ibm.com.
Event
Sponsorship
We have brought back the popular “Event
Sponsorship” where families can sponsor an event at a Condors
hosted meet. This allows you to have a personal message printed in
the meet program under the event of your choosing. Individual
events are $10 and relays are $20. Please email Fundraising@CondorsSwimming.com
for more details. Note: All
Event Sponsorships for this weekend’s meet are due by
tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21st at 2pm.
Opting
Out & Upcoming Meets
Tomorrow (Wednesday, October 21st)
is the opt-out deadline for the BGNW Holiday Madness Meet and the
GAEL 8 & Under Meet. Please opt-out if you cannot make it to
ensure your swimmer isn’t entered and to avoid being billed
the entry fees.
We will be hosting our first meet of the
season this weekend: The Condors Fall Festival. Many of the parent
volunteer jobs have been filled. If you would like to volunteer
please email Volunteer@CondorsSwimming.com.
Please see the Meet Information Page for
details on this weekend’s meet. It can be found by
clicking here.
Swimmers are not allowed to travel
outside the immediate pool area during meets. Please do not
wander past the concession stand as there are other school
activities going on and this could jeopardize our ability to
continue hosting meets.
Apparel
and Equipment
Tee Shirt orders will be in sometime this
week. Also, I’d like to remind everyone to please wear the
mandatory team suit and white team caps. The caps can be bought
from our coaches and cost $11 for silicon and $5 for latex.

Tear-Away Flyers
Any parents interested in helping with the
Club’s marketing efforts can click
here to print out a tear-away flyer for the Learn-to-Swim
program. These can be posted at local businesses and community
bulletin boards. This greatly impacts our team as Learn-to-Swim
significantly contributes to the team’s revenue, keeping the
membership dues low. Also, growing the lessons program will
continue to support our team as we develop and progress swimmers
from lessons onto the competitive team.
Let’s get ready to swim fast this
weekend and continue to work on getting IMX scores for all our
athletes. We currently only have 16% of our athletes with IMX
scores and this is one of the only factors holding us back from
becoming a Level 3 Club (of which there are only 46 clubs in the
country).
Keep up the hard work and continue to plan for
your success!
