This program for high school students features an in-depth heart
screening with a medical history review, blood pressure assessment
and an electrocardiogram (EKG) -- all reviewed by a Beaumont
doctor. The doctor will listen to the student's heart and may
decide to do an echocardiogram, a non-invasive picture of the
heart. This screening helps look for the potential risk of sudden
cardiac death.
The results of the screening will be mailed to your home within
one week of the screening event and can be shared with your child
and family physician.
To participate in the Healthy Heart Check Screening Program, you
will need to complete a medical questionnaire and consent form, and
return them with your child on the day of the screening. If forms
are missing or incomplete, we will be unable to screen your child.
A parent or guardian does not need to accompany the student to the
screening if the medical questionnaire and consent forms are
complete.
This is a no-cost screening to benefit families with high
school students.
