Lincoln - The Nebraska swimming and diving
team picked up its first dual win of the season on Saturday with a
188.5-107.5 victory over UNO at the Devaney
Natatorium.
The Huskers
took the first seven events of the day, including a pair of Mariah
Hutchinson victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard
butterfly. Nebraska finished 1-2-3 in five of the seven events and
the Huskers held a 111.5-19.5 lead at the first diving
break.
D'Arcy Schmidt
won the three meter dive with a score of 262.88, with Kaitlan
Walker taking second and Amy Herman taking third, extending
Nebraska's lead.
Hutchinson
added her third win of the day shortly after in the 200-yard
breaststroke with a time of 2:27.37. The Huskers swam exhibition
for the final four swimming events as they already had the meet in
hand by then.
Freshman
Courtney Rhodenbaugh earned her first career victory in the
100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.26. Hailey Dean, Brandie
Kavalec, Kelsey Grushecky and Karen Criss all had a win on the day
as well. Jess Andrews had the fastest time in the 100-yard
butterfly, but didn't score as she was swimming exhibition.
Amy Herman won
the one meter dive for her first career victory, with Schmidt
coming in second and Walker taking third.
Nebraska
improves its all-time record over UNO to 13-0 with the victory and
improve to 1-1 on the season. The Huskers have next weekend off
before hosting South Dakota in a dual on Nov. 7.
