The Lady Kings won the Southeast Region (formerly Region V)
swimming and diving championships for the first time in over 20
years, earning seven victories in the twelve events, and setting
one school record.
Isabel Stephens (Fr), Kendra Standley (Fr), Janelle Stacy (So),
and Emilee Johnson (Jr) went 1:51.89 in the 200 Medley Relay, to
cut 0.7 off of the school mark. Three of the four swimmers on
the previous record now swim for Division I college teams.
The new record is now seventh on the state all-time top 12.
Emilee (100/200 Free), Janelle (200 IM/100 Fly), and Kendra
(100 Breast) all earned automatic berths to States with individual
victories. Alissa Bezenek (Fr) won the 100 back, and
joined Emilee, Janelle and Alyson Walker (Fr) on the
victorious 400 Free Relay.
Walker was part of a 1-3-4 finish in the 200 free, with Johnson
and Mikayla Brown-Harrison (Fr). Mikayla added another third in the
500 free. Isabel earned a silver in the 50 free.
Kassandra Klose (Fr) added a silver in the 100 Breast and a bronze
in the 200 IM.
The Men’s team powered their way to third place overall,
with impressive individual efforts. Case Kuikhoven (So)
earned his first individual title with a win in the 500 Free.
He also dropped four seconds from prelims to jump to second in the
200 IM. TJ Hammersland-Torres (Sr) added a pair of fifth
place finishes, in the 500 free and 100 fly, and Dylan Christianson
