The Lady Kings swam
to three new school records to finish 5th overall at ASAA State
Championships. Just twelve points separated 2nd from 5th in
the team race. It is the fourth time in the last five years
that the Lady Kings have earned a top-5 placing at the
meet.
Isabel Stephens (Fr.), Kendra Standley (Fr.),
Janelle Stacy (So.) and Emilee Johnson (Jr.) improved their own
school record in the 200 Medley Relay, swam at Regionals, to place
third. Janelle then lowered her own record in the 100 fly,
earning the silver with a 58.86.
Emilee and Janelle were joined by Alyson Walker
(Fr.) and Alissa Bezenek (Fr.) to drop 3.5 seconds from their
qualifying time, to break the school mark in the 400 Freestyle
Relay, and race to 4th place.
Every Lady King swam to personal bests in the
finals. Emilee earned 2nd (200 free) and 3rd (100
free). Janelle and Kendra both added silvers (200 IM and 100
breast, respectively). Alissa added an eighth in the 100
back.
Case Kuikhoven (So.) was the only male Kayhi
swimmer to earn a trip to States, and capitalized on the
opportunity. He raced to two personal bests in placing 5th in
the 500 free and 6th in the 200 IM. His points placed Kayhi
