BEAR
Swimming’s Home Meet June 13-14, 2009 at the Contra Costa
College was the team’s first long course meet of the summer.
Forty seven of the 193 races by the team were first time long
course events for swimmers 14 years old and under. The team
achieved 15 new A times, 12 new B times, 3 new JO’s (Junior
Olympic standards), 4 new Far Westerns, and 1 new WZCT (Western
Zone). Eighty nine of the events were A Division, 42 B
Division, and 69 C Division swimming. The boys on the team
came out ahead with drops in 80 of their races compared to 68 best
times by the girls. Combining boys and girls, 76.6% of the
races were best times. GO BEAR!
Sixteen of the 34
BEAR swimmers were Swim For Your Life (SFL) participants. Of
this group, 70% of the races were first time long course events in
which 30 placed A Division, 20 B Division, and 36 C in
Division. SFL swimmers went home with 6 new A times, 5 new B
times, 2 new JO’s and 4 new Far
Westerns.
