Charlotte High Boys Wins District Title

Charlotte High School swim very well at the District 3A-6 High School Swim meet at Sarasota on Halloween Day with the boys winning the District Championship.  The girls swam exceptionally well and finished fourth in a close race with St. Petersburg for third place.  CHS will advance 18 swimmers to the Region meet next Saturday which will be held at the North Shore Pool in St. Petersburg.  The 18 swimmers that will be representing CHS are:  Kelsey Frantz, Kristin Huber, Kaitlyn Huber, Angelina Jeffries, Tori Georgoulis, Camille Harakal, Sydney Ortiz, Trevor Scott, Danny Douglas, Daniel Hughes, Caleb Coldiron, Peter Hughes, Michael Kozenieski, Addison Cates, Kevin Chislett, Andrew Moran, Dakota Spahr, and David Scott.

Several swimmers swam personal bests and finished in the top eight.  Two swimmers were double winners at the district meet and they were:  Addison Cates 50 & 100 free, and Angelina Jeffries 50 free & 100 breaststroke.  Swimmers winning an event were:  Kelsey Frantz 500 free and Caleb Coldiron 100 breast.  The boys 200 Medley relay were district winners and they were:  Trevor Scott, Caleb Coldiron, Andrew Moran, and Addison Cates.  Top eight finishshers were:  Kevin Chislett 50 & 100 free, Caleb Coldiron 200 IM, Danny Douglas 100 & 200 free, Kelsey Frantz 200 free, Tori Georgoulis 50 & 100 free, Camille Harakal 100 free, Kaitlyn Huber 200 IM, Kristin Huber 200 IM & 100 fly, Daniel Hughes 200 & 500 free, Peter Hughes 200 IM & 500 free, Michael Kozenieski 200 IM, Andrew Moran 100 fly & 500 free, Sydney Oritz 100 free, David Scott 100 fly, Trevor Scott 200 free & 100 back,  and Dakota Spahr 100 fly & 100 back.  Swimmers who swam in the consolation finals were:  Kenny Hacker, Camille Harakal, Kaitylyn Huber, Chad Jewell, Kari Kaestner, Tagen Kaestner, Michael Kozenieski, Jordan LaPlante, Tina Prokos, Matt Roche, Richard Schlichting, David Scott, John Spoonts, and Shannen Walsh.

Kelsey Frantz broke a school record in the 200 free.
