Subject: Dryland strength training is extrememly important
for any swimmer desiring to be highly competitive! In fact, the
older a swimmer gets, the more important strength training becomes.
Dryland exercises should be performed at least three times per week
but, ideally, four or more times per week. Many swimmers are unable
to make all of the TIBU dryland sessions offered during the week,
so we will be posting at-home dryland routines that can be
performed using a minimum of equipment.
Take home dryland exercises#1
50 jumping jacks
20 squats
15 second plank
10 second hold superman position
15 second plank
10 pushups
This should be done five times over the course of one hour with
each
exercise following the one before with no rest between
exercises.
Ideally, this would be done during commercial breaks of a one
hour T.V. Show but can be done during any time at home with 5-10
minutes between sets. For example: ten math problems and then
dryland
exercises or 5-10 minutes Guitar Hero then dryland exercises.
Remember, three days per week should be the minimum but six
dryland days is recommended for optimal results!
