Dear Parents,
We are now in the 9th week of the
season and the swimmers are really looking good in the water.
We’ve got a busy week with the girl’s high school
Division Championships and 3 different meets that we are attending
this weekend.
Schedule
Felix Festa practice schedule has been
adjusted for this week due to the high school and Sharks meets.
This week’s practice schedule is available by viewing the
calendar on the home page of the website or by viewing last
week’s parent’s email by
clicking here.
Upcoming Meets
This weekend our swimmers will be in one of
three places, either the AGUA Open, Sharks meet at Festa or our 8
& Under Mini Meet at WCC. We still need parent volunteers for
the 8 & Under meet, please contact Sandra Hanson by emailing hansoncarpentry@yahoo.com.
MIT
Invite
Please continue to book your rooms for MIT. We
have a special rate of $129 per night. The rooms are a 1 bedroom
suite with full kitchen, includes breakfast (more details on that
to come) and is in walking distance of the pool. Parking is not
included however.
Click
here to make reservations, or you can call
800-331-3131 and ask for the Condors Swim Club room block. Reservations must be made by
Nov. 19th to get the discounted rate and be guaranteed a
room.
Also, any parents interested in carpooling or
chaperoning, please contact our travel committee chairperson, Karen
Bernstein by emailing her at rexandolive@rcn.com.
Reminder: Swim Meet Policies
1)
No cell phones or video games on deck. These are distracting and
often get lost, stolen or broken. Please do not bring these items
on the pool deck and refrain from using them during meets.
2)
Swimmers are required to stay until the end of each session. We
attend these meets as a team and it is crucial to our success as a
program that we support one another. If you must leave a swim meet
before the end of the session, please get prior approval from Coach
Wagner or Coach Allen.
3)
Socks & Sneakers. It is a good idea, especially as we get into
the colder months, that swimmers wear socks and sneakers at swim
meets. Much of your body heat is transferred through your feet and
it is important we stay warm on the pool deck.
4)
No parents on deck. If you are not working the meet, you must stay
in the stands. Coming onto the deck not only jeopardizes our
team’s entry into future meets, it creates liability issues
as parents are not covered under USA Swimming’s insurance
policy.
Parent
Meetings
There will be a parent meeting at Felix Festa
next Tuesday (11/10) at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. We will be showing
a parent video and discussing information on the MIT meet.
There will be a parent meeting held at WCC
tomorrow night (Wed 11/4) at 6:30 in the stands. We will be
discussing this weekend’s upcoming meets, team philosophy and
the direction of the Westchester program.
NYSA
Fall Classic Entries
We were recently informed that Friday
night’s session of the NYSA meet was over subscribed and 40%
of the entries had to be cut. A revised Condors entry report is
now posted on the website and can be viewed by
clicking here. The
session was estimated to finish after midnight before cuts were
made. We will make sure
that any swimmer who was cut from an event will have an opportunity
to swim that event at our next Condors meet. All cut entries will be
refunded. We appreciate
your patience as we manually credit each account.
New
Calendars
Please note that we have started using Google
calendars for our practice schedules. These are available by
clicking the “Schedules” tab at the top of the website.
Also, these calendars can be set up to automatically sync to
Microsoft Outlook, Blackberry, iPhone and other mobile devices and
should limit the number of phone calls we regularly get in the
office asking what the day’s practice times will be.
Flyers
Any parents interested in helping grow our
program can print and distribute the attached flyer.
