Chico AquaJets Make Strong Showing
at Western States Championships
The Chico AquaJets Swim Team
competed at the Far Western Age Group Championships Meet this past
weekend held in Pleasanton. Over 1,100 athletes competed from 142
teams from the Western United States. The nine competing AquaJets
finished 22nd over all in the team standings. Allison
West, 16, won silver in the 400 yard Individual Medley with a
4:35.38 and in the 200 yd butterfly in a 2:08.43; she swam to fifth
place in the 200 yd freestyle with a 1:56.85 and in the 100 yd fly
in a 59.71. Darcie Anderson, 15, swam to silver in the 200 yd
breaststroke with a 2:23.45; she swim to fourth in the 400 yd I.M.
with a 4:39.81 and the 100 yd free with a 54.07; she earned fifth
in the 100 yd breast with a 1:06.84 and the 200 I.M. in a 2:10.45;
she finished sixth in the 200 yd free with a 1:56.86 and the 50 yd
free with a 24.82. Keely-Shaye Johnosn, 10, swam to fourth place in
the 50 yd fly with a 31.51 and eleventh place in the 50 yd back
with a 34.53. Also qualifying and competing for the AquaJets at the
meet were Alex Barney, 14; Meghan Johnson, 14; Brigid Ehrlich, 13;
Kathleen West, 13; Brooke Barney, 12; and Annabelle Hopkins, 10.
