Swimmers Taking a Break?
If your swimmer will be out of the water for a
month or more due to participation in another sport, high school
swimming season, travel, illness, etc., you may pay in
Inactive/Retainer fee for the month. This is generally ½ of the
swimmer’s monthly dues. (Swimmers who are inactive in order
to participate in High School swimming are at a slightly different
rate.) This can
be done if you notify the coach or leave a message at the team
office AND notify the billing person, Dana Hyams (fishhead@acsalaska.netor 336-0972). This retainer fee will hold your
swimmer’s place on the team.
Swimmers on retainer/inactive status may
not participate in any more than 4 practices in the calendar month.
There is no proration of dues. Swimmers who participate in any swim
meets during that month or travel with the team are considered
active. If your swimmer quits the team
and rejoins within 6 months, you will be charged for the
inactive/retainer fee for the months missed in addition to the AST
Registration fee.
AST swimmers who will be swimming for
their high school team during HS Swim/Dive season will be placed on
“High School Retainerý status. The dues for this are $55.00 per
month and swimmers will be billed this amount for the months of
August, September, & October. (Some swimmers will swim with AST
for a week in August and with their HS teams for a week in
November, but for sanity sake they will be billed as noted.)
Retainer/inactive fees allow AST to retain
coaches and maintain a quality program despite varying levels of
participation, especially during the summer months and the High
School swimming season. The associated business costs of running
AST (Pool Rental, Insurance, Workman’s Compensation, and
Federal payroll taxes) don’t change with swimmer vacations or
breaks. Swimmers want
their coach and lanes to be there when they return to the
pool.
Retainer/Inactive fees help make this possible!
