SCSC completed an
extremely successful week in Austin, Texas at this winter’s
USA Swimming Junior Nationals. The combined team finished
12th and the men finished 11th after 3 days of some very fast
swimming competition.
Among the notable swims and finishes were Chris Scheaffer who
placed 3rd in the 200 Fly and set a new Pacific Swimming 15-16
record time of 1:46.42. This record also eclipsed the old
SCSC short course record for this event. He also placed 4th in the
100 Back with a time of 48.86 which set another new SCSC team
record. In the 100 Fly, Chris finished 5th with a new Pacific
Swimming record time for 15-16 males with a time of 48.26.
Charlotte Ruby placed 7th in the 200 Fly, while Sam Shimomura
finished 9th in the 1650 and 19th in the 200 Free.
The SCSC relay team of Chris Scheaffer, Sam Shimomura, Chin Hao Chang, and Matt Webster finished 7th in the 800 Free Relay and 15th in the 400 Free Relay. The women’s team of Sandra Soe, Charlotte Ruby, Catherine Ladd, and Sarah Shimomura placed 8th in the 800 Free Relay.
