FAST had some great swims at the
Blue Meet in Mission Viejo last weekend, January 7th and 8th.
Two of our Bronze Team swimmers achieved new Junior Olympic
qualifying times in the 9-10 Girls age group: Lily Olsen (50
Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle) and Annika Johnson
(100 Backstroke). In addition, the team of Evelyn McIlveen,
Maddie Harkey, Olsen and Makena Ditsworth swam to a new Junior
Olympic qualifying time in the 9-10 Girls 200 Freestyle Relay.
Several of our Pre-Senior Team swimmers had many significant time
drops. Breanna Adams led the way posting lifetime bests in
all six of her races. Diana Monobe dropped in 3 of her 5
events, including an outstanding 2 second drop in the 100
Backstroke. Mariah Ames had huge drops in all three Distance
Freestyle races knocking off 43 seconds in the 1,000 Freestyle, 26
seconds in the 500 Freestyle and 23 seconds in the 1,650
Freestyle. Other significant improvements in the Distance
Freestyle came from Kelly Babigan (10 second drop in the 500
Freestyle), Tori Davis (17 second drop in the 1,650 Freestyle) and
Sean Lundin (17 second drop in the 1,000 Freestyle).
Four of the Pre-Seniors had
breakthrough swims in the 200 distance -- Sergio Dorrego took more
than 4 seconds off of his lifetime best in the 200 Backstroke,
Justin Wang dropped over 5 seconds in the 200 Freestyle, Katie
Liddell took 3 seconds off of her 200 IM time, and Amanda Lundstedt
dropped over 7 seconds in the 200 IM.
Keep up the great work, FAST!
