Emily Brunemann and Chip Peterson competed in the first FINA
Open Water World Cup 10K race of 2012 yesterday in Santos,
Brazil. The water conditions were rough, leading to a tough
and longer than average race. Due to the depth of the
competition, there was a very fast lead pack and brutal race to the
finish in both races. Brunemann and Peterson each hung with
the lead pack in their races and finished 5th and 12th,
respectively. Brunemann's time of 2 hours, 22 minutes and 31
seconds was 7 seconds behind the top finisher. Peterson's
time of 2 hours, 11 minutes and 51 seconds was 11 seconds behind
the leader. Great job, Emily and Chip! Complete results
