FAST's 13 & Over swimmers performed very well at last
weekend's Older JO Meet. FAST highlights are below.

Our 1000 Freestylers started strong on the first day with
big drops for all but one swimmer. Mandy
Schatz took 13th place (13-14 Girls) and Kendall
Lyng finished 14th (15 & Over). On the boys'
side, Gian Berino and Blake Faris
finished in 7th and 16th place, respectively. Gian also swam
a best time in the 200 Freestyle when he led off the Boys 15 &
Over 800 Freestyle A Relay. Teammate Sean
Kao also posted a best time leading off the B Relay.
Day Two saw six FAST swimmers earn second swims.
Paul Li led the way with 7th place finishes in
both the 200 IM and 500 Freestyle. Blake
Faris finished 12th 500 Freestyle, posting a lifetime best
4:39.38 in Prelims. Katja Claesson and
Breanna Adams had a great showing in the A Final
of the 15 & Over Girls 100 Breaststroke. They finished in
4th and 5th place, respectively, and both turned in best times in
the Prelims. Gian Berino finished 13th in
the 200 Backstroke with a lifetime best 1:56.33, improving on his
lifetime best from the morning. Evan
Munaretto made it back to Finals in the 13-14 Boys 50
Freestyle. He swam a great race, tying for first place
in the B Final with a lifetime best 23.36 to take 9th place
overall. Evan also posted a lifetime best in the 13-14 Boys
200 IM earlier in the day.
Day Three was highlighted by the Boys 200 Freestyles. Five
of our six boys in the event posted lifetime bests --
Nathan Diaz, Gian Berino,
Sean Kao, Blake Faris, and Evan
Munaretto. Nathan earned a spot in the B Final and
finished 16th overall. Paul Li swam an
incredible race in the A Final to take second place overall, just
tenths off of his best time. Paul also raced in the A Final
of the 400 IM and finished in 7th place overall. His time of
4:03.87 in the morning was a lifetime best by 4
seconds. Evan Munaretto posted a lifetime
best in the 13-14 Boys 100 Butterfly, taking off almost 2 seconds
from his previous best time. On the girls side,
Amanda Lundstedt, Mandy Schatz
and Diana Monobe all earned second swims.
Amanda finished 15th in the 15 & Over Girls 100 Butterfly and
posted a lifetime best in the Prelims. Mandy swam to 14th
place in the 13-14 Girls 200 Freestyle. Her time of 1:58.66
was just tenths off of her lifetime best 1:58.48 from the
morning. Diana finished 11th in the 13-14 Girls 100
Backstroke with lifetime best 1:01.42. The 13-14 Girls team
of Diana Monobe, Mandy Schatz,
Ashley Beck and Hana Claesson had
a great showing in the 200 Freestyle Relay taking 7th place
overall.
On the final day of the meet, FAST had five swimmers
score big points for the team. In the Boys 15 & Over
1650 Freestyle, Gian Berino took the 8th place
spot with a lifetime best 16:32.41 and Nathan Diaz
took 9th in 16:35.59. Katja Claesson posted
her second lifetime best of the weekend in the Girls 15 & Over
200 Breaststroke. Her time of 2:22.91 was a 2 second
drop and she earned 6th place in the A Final. Evan
Munaretto took 13th place in the 13-14 Boys 100
Freestyle. His time of 50.86 was faster than his Prelims swim
and just hundredths off of his lifetime best.
Paul Li swam a fantastic 200 Butterfly to
take 3rd in the B Final and 11th place overall. His time
of 1:52.92 was a 5 second drop from his previous best
time. In the last event of the meet, the 15 & Over Boys
400 Freestyle Relay, FAST's team of Sean Kao,
Blake Faris, Jimmy Gonzales and
Paul Li raced well and earned 6th place
overall.
