The Ukiah Dolphins recently competed in two meets, one in Pleasanton and the other in Santa Rosa . Four Dolphins swam many good races. The goals of these meets were to practice race tactics and to evaluate conditioning. The temperature at the outdoor pool remained below freezing throughout the meet, so staying warm between races was a challenge throughout the two-day meet. Eleven-year-old Maggie Selzer swam three races on Saturday. Her best race was a 200 free in which she bettered her time by more than three seconds. She also swam well in her 50 fly and 200 IM. Both times were close to her best times.

Zoe Lazaro, who is 12, swam eight races in the two days, improving her times in five of them. She improved her 200 free time to 2:43.18, her 500 free by well over a minute to 7:27.97, her 200 breast to 3:20.64, and her 50 fly to 38.75. Her time in the grueling 400 IM was a very strong 6:26.67, placing her 9th in the C division.

Adriaan Boer who is 14, improved in four of his six races. He improved over 25 seconds in the 500 by swimming a 6:35.71 and placing second in the C division. He did a 1:23.49 in the 100 back, a 1:33.60 in the 100 breast and a 3:02.56 in the 200 IM.

Fifteen-year-old Marcus Ramirez swam eight races, winning the two longest, and placing in the top four in the others. He won the 500 free, swimming his second best time ever, and won the 400 IM in a new team record time of 4:50.73.

Taylor Palleson who is 11, swam under similar freezing conditions in Santa Rosa . She improved her time in the 50 free to 37.94, in the 100 back to 1:45.70. Her time in the 100 breast improved more than 14 seconds to 1:57.39.
