Local Swimmer Competing in London in Paralympics
Local swimmer, Zack McAllister, who trains locally, is competing at the Paralympics in London, England with his first race this week.
Zack will be racing in 400 m Freestyle on August 31st, followed by 50 m Freestyle on September 3, 200 IM on September 5, and 100 m Freestyle on September 6.
Zack has been training at the university pool with the LASC and University of Lethbridge Pronghorn swim teams and coaches and is the first person to represent Lethbridge in swimming at either the Paralympics or Olympics in recent history.
Opening ceremonies for the Paralympics are on Wednesday August 29th, and swimming events start on August 30th.
LASC is one of the oldest swim clubs in Western Canada, bringing swimming to the community for 75 years in 2012-2013! This team is open to registrations of all ages and abilities of swimmers, year-round. A Free Trial Week is running from September 10 - 13th for anyone interested in seeing what the club is about and meeting the coaches.
