No Workout at ISC This Saturday

All workouts this Saturday are canceled at the ISC due to our hosting of the Super League Championship meet. If you just can’t stay away (or need volunteer hours), please see below!

Volunteer Hours

Super League Meet: Jobs are now open for the February 9-10 meet we are hosting here at SCSC. You can signup/check your assignment here:

QSS IMX Timing: should be opening soon, if not already available. Please sign up for one hour each day you have a child swimming, for which you will receive 15 minutes of volunteer credit. Also note, if your child makes finals, it is expected that parents of participating swimmers will help time.

An Important Note Regarding Signing up for Meets

Please note that all meet entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERRABLE. All meet sheets state this policy, as it comes directly from USA Swimming. Although some meet directors may grant refunds in extreme cases of injury, this is highly unorthodox and rarely granted. As a representative of SCSC, we expect for parents and swimmers to know the rules of meet entry, so please do not email SwimConnection or meet directors requesting a refund unless approved by your coach.

Any further questions regarding this issue, please contact Coach Carlene at Thank you!

USA Swim Cards

Your USA Swimming Registration Cards are ready to be picked up in the main office at the ISC.

Ask our board of directors

We have quite a few questions from the membership regarding the pool area and we would like to take this time to address them.

Q. During the cold winter months is there somewhere swimmers can go to do their homework?

A. Swimmers are always welcome to use the team room unless we have a team program going on in this space.

If the team room is not available the library is also open Monday- Saturday the library hours are: Monday/Tuesday 10am-8pm, Wednesday-Friday from 10am-6pm and Saturday from 10am-5pm.

Many people have asked about opening the rotunda as a daily homework space, unfortunately that space is the City Lifeguard Office and our lease with the city only allows us to use that space for special events such as board meetings, group meetings, and swim meets.

Q. Why is the grassy area near the gate by the lawn bowling field and inside the gate to the right closed by use of metal barriers?

A. This is a city managed area and nearly every year during the wet months they barricade this area to protect the grass. The barriers will come down after the wet months and there will be healthy grass for us all to use

Q. Is it possible for children and parents to have access and egress to/from the pool area through both gates?

A. The South end gates (near lawn bowling) are always open during swim team hours the north end (diving pool gate) is the diving and synchronized swimming teams entrance the Club does not have a key to this gate so if those programs are not practicing the North end gate will be closed. This policy is mandated by the property owners.

We love hearing from you! Please email with any questions you want the board to answer they will either email you personally or include your question with response in the SCSC quarterly newsletter.

Everyone has been doing a great job at workout these past few weeks. Enjoy your day off!

“You are what you do. If you do boring, stupid, monotonous work, chances
are you’ll end up boring, stupid, and monotonous.”

Senior 1

Super League meet this weekend. Coach Dave will tell you what you are swimming on Monday. Be prepared to race and compete for the competition is with the best teams in Pacific Swimming. High School swimmers please note that once you swim in a official meet for your High School, you are then Unattached for SCSC (UN-SCSC). If you have any questions concerning this, talk to the coach.

Senior 2

It is mandatory to sign up for your one on one meeting on the bulletin in the team room. Parents, it is up to your child if you want to be included.

Great job to all swimmers who swam at the senior meet last weekend. The challenge of swimming your least favorite events wasn't easy but you managed to swim respectable races with some best times.

Congratulations to Mark Gorelik! Mark has moved up to Senior 1 last week by earning two Far Western cuts in the mile and the 100! Practice will be much more quiet without you (JK), but will dearly miss your loud presences. Good luck and best wishes from Senior II!
