As many of you know PNS has chosen to attend this
year’s North American Challenge Cup (NACC) in Veracruz,
Mexico instead of Zones. The meet will be held on August 6-8, 2009.
The PNS team will leave Seattle on Monday, August 3rd and return on
Sunday, August 9th. After recent enhancements to the PNS travel
plan KING has decided that the competition offers a positive
competition opportunity and will encourage swimmers who qualify to
accept position on the team.
KING Coach Ash Milad has been named Head Coach for the team.
Selection criteria will be based on the judgment of the coaching
staff along with consideration of the combined Hy-Tek age group
power points for each swimmer in the following pairs of
events:
- 50/100 Free
- 200/500 Free
- 100/200 Back, Breast, Fly
- 200/400 IM
The age group breakdowns for the team will be as
follows: 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18. There is not a 9-10
age-group in this meet and 11-12’s will swim 100/200’s
instead of 50/100’s. Invitations from PNS will come to
swimmers during the months of April and May.
KING believes that this taste of international experience and the
high level of competition at this meet will provide a good
developmental opportunity for those that are selected to
attend. We encourage any swimmers selected to be on the team
to attend the meet. Any swimmer
with a Junior National/US Open qualifying time should consult with
their coach before accepting an invitation.
We will still be sending a team to Far Westerns. Far Western
qualifying times can be found on the KING website in the events
section. We encourage all swimmers that qualify for Far
Westerns and are not invited to attend the North American Challenge
Cup to attend the meet.
More details on each of the meets will follow in the coming
weeks.

Check out a couple of videos found on YouTube
from the last two NACC meets. It is slide show with music. While
the 2007 video is generic the 2008 version features swimmers
from Southern California Swimming. See if you recognize some of
your friends from SoCal.
