LASC on the Podium at Western Canada Champs

Aidan Godwin led our LASC team of four club swimmers at the Western Canadian Championships in Saskatoon, February 14-17.  Aidan reached the podium for the first time at this level with a bronze in the 16 & under boys 200 Breast breaking the oldest standing 15-17 boys LASC club record in the process.  His 2:20.33 improved on Shawn Pinder's (of Runner's Soul) 1993 swim of 2:20.95.  Aidan added 4th in the 100 Breast and 6th in the 50 Breast and was our top point scorer at the meet.

Kaelan Freund and Vincenzo Sljuka made second swims in their first Western Champs.  Kaelan jumped in the 16 & under final with a new LASC record in the 100 Breast, placing 10th and bettering his own 13-14 time from last month.  Vince dropped 2 seconds from prelims to finals in the 200 fly and placed 13th.

Jordan Calladine, another Western's rookie, swam well as one of the few 13 year olds in the 15 & under age group.  Her top placing was 28th in the 50 Back.

In addition to those noted, Kaelan also broke his own 13-14 club record in the 50 Breast with 32.17.

Well Done LASC!
