Host Family Needed

To all members of the Santa Clara Swim Club and their families:

My name is John Foster. I will begin training for a return to competitive swimming.  My goal is to make the 2016 team to Brazil. I was a student-athlete at Cal, swimming freestyle for the Bears men's team. I am an NCAA All-American with Olympic Trials cuts.

I am looking for a host family that I could stay with for the Summer as I settle in for this 3+ year journey to the games. I greatly appreciate the support and I look forward to meeting everyone.

--- John M. Foster

If you are interested, please contact John Foster at (510) 499-0855 or at Johnfoster87@gmail.com

National

Please note that we have NO workout Monday morning, and workout Tuesday through Friday mornings. Thank you!

We will be doing another Learn to Swim clinic the weekend after CCS, May 18th 11am-1pm. Please see the Bitter Truth for details and let me know if you cannot make it!

“Learn to talk to yourself instead of only listening to yourself. If you only listen to yourself, you only hear all of the reasons why you should give up. You hear the “whys”, but if you talk to yourself, you can give yourself the encouragement and words you need to hear to be out in front and finish the race the way YOU want.”

--- John Bitter

Senior 1

Great swims at CCS.  We are now training for the very short Long Course Season.  Far Westerns are 11.5 weeks away, right around the corner.  Please sign up for the Summer Sanders meet in Roseville and make your travel arrangements ASAP.

Senior 2

Congratulations to all CCS qualifiers!  We are looking forward to having all our high school swimmers back training with us this week, as long course season officially begins.  Our Sr. 2 Pizza Party will be on Friday, May 17th.  This is a 'thank you' from SCSC to our group for raising the most Swim-a-thon money.  Well done, Senior 2's!  Details:  on 5/17 all Sr. 2 swimmers should attend the 3:30 practice that day; we will workout until 5 PM, then walk 2 blocks to Stuft Pizza on Homestead & Woodhams.

“Make sure your worst enemy doesn't live between your own two ears.”

---Laird Hamilton

Gold - boys

Monday: group meeting about individual goal meetings.

Don't forget dryland is from 4:45-5:15 every Tuesday and Thursday!

Have a great week!

Gold - girls

I want to share one of our Gold Girls’ comments about Long Course Success:

“Be positive: think about what is good for you, not what you like. Work hard in every practice, so you can get best times and win. Challenge yourself. If you have a bad race, go back to practice and think about what you might have done wrong. Always have fun.”

---Nicole  Oliva.
