A Note from Head Coach John Bitter

The 46th SCSC International

I want to take a moment to send out a heartfelt thank you to all for the long hours many of you put in not only during the swim meet this year, but also prior to and after the meet. As I write this, I know the meet is not complete, so while the racing will come to a close on Sunday evening, the “meet” is not over until the deck is cleared and the pool is empty. Each year, we are fortunate to host some of the fastest swimmers in the world at the George Haines’ International Swim Center, and the display of swimming prowess never fails to excite the crowds who come to watch and for our up and coming swimmers to see. Also, for those SCSC swimmers who have the opportunity to compete, this is a chance to see what you can do against the elite athletes who descend upon of facility. To have the opportunity to see the smiles on the faces of our younger swimmers as they are getting an autograph or pose for a picture with their favorite swimmers, to watching them parade or perform in the opening ceremonies, etc., it is a joy for the staff to get to see and I hope for you as parents to witness. Your hard work to help make this meet the continued success that it is each year pays off in more ways than is often seen or felt and I cannot thank you all enough for all that you do.

To the chairs and the meet directors, Kim and Helen, your endless devotion to this club and what we try to do cannot go without notice. Thank you!

As we conclude this year’s edition of the meet, it will be back to the pool and training for the meets that will be coming fast and furious as the summer season is over before we know it. So, on Sunday night at around 9pm, take a deep breath, exhale, know how much I appreciate all of the work that was done, but get ready for a summer that will be here and gone before we know it. The staff is looking forward to a great summer and I know the swimmers are as well.

Fast swimming and success to all!

--- Head Coach John Bitter

Volunteer Hours

Thanks to all SCSC families for the hard work and long hours at International this weekend! Remember, it can take up to 2 weeks from the end of the event to see the hours credited to your account. And not all departments will be entered at the same time, so you may see some of your hours but not others for a bit, but don't worry--eventually all hours will get entered. Thank you for your patience as I sort through all the paperwork.

Senior 1

I would like all swimmers to enter the Summer Sanders Invite coming up June 14-16 in Roseville. You will need to provide your own transportation and lodging. If we can get a good number of swimmers going, we will look into making this an official SCSC team travel meet in the future.

"Nobody succeeds beyond his or her wildest expectations unless he or she begins with some wild expectations."

Gold - boys

Please check and follow our new twitter site @SCSCGOLDBOYS for video postings and news about the SCSC Gold Boys Group.

It was great seeing all of you who made it out to finals on Friday! We will be reviewing a few of the races this week before practice.

One more week of practice before our summer schedule starts! Please be sure to make dryland from 4:45pm-5:15pm on Tuesday and Thursday.

Swimmers need to have all current stroke count and temp charts to me by Wed. (6/5).

Have a great week!

Gold - girls

Gold Girls had another very successful long course meet in Monterey. Keep up the hard work and the times will keep dropping.....I promise! I have another great comment:

"I can’t wait to start Long Course season. I am ready to come to practice, focus on technique, turns, streamlines and breakouts. I am ready to race and get best times."

--- Mila Meck

The BB Group and its coaches would like to congratulate the SCSC swimmers on their great swims this past weekend!

Yellow 1/2

Reminder that Thursday dry land this week will be to review your goal sheets and re-evaluate your goals for the summer season. Hope everyone had a great time watching some of the best in the world race in the lanes where you swim everyday. GO SCSC!!!

Yellow 2

Yellow Bell 2 families, we have noticed an increase in the amount of parents talking to their child during practice. We ask that you please refrain from approaching your kids while they are in the water, unless it is an emergency. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please discuss this with one of the coaches. Thank you for your cooperation.

Tuesday, there will be a high school graduation at the Wilson campus. There are about 95 students who will be with families parking in the lots around the pool around 5pm. Please expect the area to be crowded and plan as necessary. Thank you!
