LASC Celebrates Summer 2013 in Montreal!

J'adore Montreal!

LASC Swimmers had a great finish to the 2013 summer racing season in Montreal at the IPC World Championships, Canadian Senior Nationals and Age Group Nationals.  Zack McAllister broke two Canadian and Americas records, Rachel Nicol won her first Senior National Title and Kaelan Freund his first (and second) Age National Gold.

IPC World Championships - Montreal, August 11-18 - New Records for McAllister!

Zack McAllister broke the Canadian & Americas records in the 50 and 100 Free for the S8 division en route to placing 6th and 7th respectively.  Zack's 100 (1:01.97) knocked almost a full second off his record from the London Paralympics and he claimed the 50 for the first time.  Zac had his best placing with a 5th in the 400 Free.

Canadian Senior Nationals - Montreal, July 17-20 - First Senior National Title for Nicol!

We had three LASC swimmers representing us at Senior Nationals and they all had their best ever placing at nationals.  Rachel Nicol had a great meet winning her first ever senior national title in the 100 Breast and adding silver in the 200 and bronze in the 50.  Rachel's 50 and 200 were LASC records.  Leah Troskot made the big final at nationals for the first time and placed 6th in the 50 Free, also in a new LASC club record.  Leah just missed the A final in the 100 Free winning the B final for 11th place.  David Errington had his best ever senior national placing with 13th in the 50 Breast and also made the B final in the 100 Breast.

Canadian Age Group Nationals - Montreal, July 24-29 - Freund Breaks Through With 2 Gold!

We had two swimmers wearing LASC blue at Age Group Nationals and Kaelan Freund led the way with a breakout swim meet winning two gold and two bronze medals.  Kaelan moved from 4th seed in both the 100 and 200 Breast to win gold for 14 year olds and set new LASC records in each.  He also set club records with his bronze medal swims in the 50 Breast and 200 IM.  Josh Freund also scored with 10th place swims in the 800/1500 Free.
