Success for SCSC at the NCSA Junior Cup and Speedo Far Western Champs

Over the past two weeks, SCSC swimmers have been lighting up the pool at meets in Florida and locally in Morgan Hill.  This past weekend, SCSC finished second at the Speedo Far Western Champs held in Morgan Hill, California.   Congratulations goes out to all of the SCSC swimmers who qualified and competed this year.  It takes each of you to make the team “one”. Among the notable individual performances, Sophie Krivokapic-Zhou won the 200 Free, 200 and 400 IM, 100 and 200 Back.  Her times in the 200 IM, 100 Back, and 200 Back were Far Western records and her swim in the 100 Back was new Pacific Swimming record.  She also set team records in the 100 Back and 400 IM.  Nicole Oliva set new Far Western records in the 50 Fly and 100 Back.  She also set new Pacific Swimming records in the 50 Fly, 50 and 100 Back.  Both Sophie and Nicole were high point winners for their respective age groups, 13-14 and 11-12 Girls. The 11-12 Girls 200 and 400 Medley Relays, consisting of Nicole Oliva, Nadia Bouraoui, Mikayla Tseng, and Tina Le also broke the existing Far Western records.  Besides these two and their relays, other notable swims came from Mikayla Tseng, who won the 11-12 Girls 200 Fly, Kimberly Ma winning the 17-18 Girls 200 Breast, and Sandra Soe winning the 15-16 Girls 100 Free.  Also the 10 & Under Girls 200 Free Relay of Jeremiah Tandingan, Ysabel Chen, Gayatri Raut, and Steffi Beisel were victorious.  Again congratulations to all of the SCSC swimmers who competed and gave their all to the team effort.

The week of March 25 to 29, 2014, Aidan Burns, Filipe Medeiros, and Matt Lujan competed in Clearwater, Florida at the first NCSA junior Cup.  In a meet that saw a new American Record in the Women’s 100 Free, the threesome did an awesome job.  Aidan left the meet with new bests in 5 out of 6 events.  His wins in the 500 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free and 200 IM were new Pacific Swimming records.   Both Filipe and Matt left the meet with multiple bests as well.

Congratulations again to all and each of you continue to make SCSC Proud!
