Great Summer Meets for LASC

Provincial & National Champions! 

Best Times and New Provincial Records for LASC!

LASC team meets have finished for the summer and our swimmers concluded the season 2013-14 season in fine form.  Since our team awards dinner, we have competed at the Alberta Age Group & Senior Provincials, Alberta Summer Games, Canadian Senior Nationals and Canadian Age Group Nationals with great results at each meet.  Congratulations to all of the swimmers that made LASC proud and here are some of the highlights.

Alberta Age Group & Senior Provincials - July 2-5, Edmonton

  • LASC placed 9th overall with 15 swimmers
  • 6 swimmers reached the podium winning a total of 17 medals
    • Kaelan Freund - 2 gold, 2 silver
    • Aidan Godwin - 3 bronze
    • Apollo Hess - 1 silver
    • Meaghan Morter -  1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze
    • Nathan Sawicki - 2 bronze
    • Leah Troskot - 3 silver
  • 2 Provincial Champions - Kaelan Freund (100 Breast/200 IM) & Meaghan Morter (800 Free)
  • 12 swimmers made finals with Top 10 placing's

Alberta Summer Games - July 25-27, Airdrie

  • 8 LASC swimmers qualified for Zone 1 Team and each of our swimmers had at least one top 10 placing
  • 2 swimmers won individual medals
    • Issac Benke - bronze in 200 Fly
    • Graeme Godwin - bronze in 100 breast

Canadian Senior Nationals, July 16-19, Saskatoon

  • LASC placed 13th overall with 7 swimmers
  • Rachel Nicol wins National Championship in 50 Breast and sets new Provincial Record
  • 3 swimmers placed in Top 10
    • Rachel Nicol - 1 gold (50 Breast), 2 silver (100/200 Breast), 1 bronze (200 IM)
    • Ryan Thornley - 4th in 50 Fly & 6th in 50 Free
    • Leah Troskot - 7th in 100 Free

Canadian Age Group Nationals - July 23-28, Winnipeg

  • 4 LASC swimmers placed 38th out of almost 200 teams
  • Kaelan Freund won 15 year old National Championship in 50/100 Breast setting a new Provincial Record in 100 Breast
  • 3 swimmers made finals (top 8) in a total of 13 events
    • Kaelan Freund - 2 gold, 2 silver (200 Breast & 200 IM), 1 bronze (400 IM)
    • Joshua Freund - 1 bronze (800 Free), 6th in 400 Free & 50 Breast, 7th in 200 Free & 100 Breast
    • Meaghan Morter - 4th in 400 Free & 1500 Free, 5th in 800 Free
