The next MAC Board of Directors meeting will be tomorrow at 6:30 pm

Today is Tuesday, August 28th.  Here is the news for today.

The next MAC Board of Directors meeting will be tomorrow at 6:30 pm in the conference room at the offices of Varner and Goundry, located at 31 W. Patrick St., Suite 100.  Thank you to Ed Goundry for allowing us use of a much cooler facility!  Attached to this e-mail is a copy of the agenda.  As always, everyone is welcome to attend.

The final try-out for the upcoming session will also be tomorrow from 5:30-6:30 pm in the indoor pool.  Remember, these try-outs are for swimmers who have never swum for MAC.  Please pass the word to anyone you know who might be interested in giving MAC a try!  Don't forget, there is a new group, replacing Maintenance, that is geared toward readying older swimmers for high school and year round swimming. Coach Andy (301-748-0916) is the contact for more information.

The following is a message from our Board President, John Borgersen - "MAC Families:  The new swim season is about to start and I wanted to provide a brief MAC update.  First, the Board of Directors voted to have a mandatory $100 fund-raising fee billed to each family.  Although our club is in the best financial shape we have been in for years, as we grow and attempt to provide the best possible services to our swimmers, we have the need to increase our budget.  Traditionally, we have had modest success in our fund-raising efforts and the Board is working to improve our performance in this area.  Given rising expenses and some of our club's needs, we felt it vital t have some certainty in the dollars
we can count on as a function of fund-raising.

Thus, the $100 funding-raising assessment fee, which will be billed in the first trimester's billing cycle.  We are in the process of looking at the possiblity of getting a credit back if families raise additional money and/or attract club sponsors, but, this will not happen until next year.  If you have any questions, I would be happy to discuss this issue with you.  Please feel free to e-mail me at jborgersen@geotransinc.com.

I'm very excited to announce that we are very close to launching a new and improved MAC website.  We hope to have this completed by the end of the month.  This site will serve as a portal to provide club information in a number of areas including logistics such as practice times, meet information, meet results, MAC records, BOD news, etc.  It will also be a forum to post photographs, order MAC gear, and communicate all sorts of news about our club.  We will announce via the hotline when the new
site is available.  If you have any ideas/questions concerning the site, please e-mail
macswiminfo@gmail.com".

Here's a date for your calendar - Saturday, September 22nd.  That's the date we will be raising the bubble.  We'll need everyone's help for this big undertaking - more information soon!

Toni James has informed me that the MAC caps with the swimmers' names on them are in and should be in everyone's folder.

The practice schedule for this evening is as follows:  Seniors Red, Black, and White from 6:00-8:00 pm and Masters from 8:00-9:00 pm all in the outdoor pool.  Don't forget, there is no practice on Saturday or Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.  Practice resumes for the rest of the groups next week on either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on which days the group practices.  Times will return to normal on Tuesday for the Senior groups.

Have a great day!
