This is the MAC News for Wednesday, September 12th.
Apologies for the problems with yesterday's e-mail. Hopefully everyone will receive today's announcements bug-free!
Please, please, please, remember, parking on campus near both pools is reserved for students and faculty ONLY! This means you may NOT park near either pool, even just to pick up or drop off. We have been advised that cars will now be ticketed. If Magnolia St. is full, there is a new parking lot where the tennis courts used to be behind the gym that is available for parking. There is also a lot by the chapel that may be used. A map of campus may be found here - www.hood.edu/welcome/visit.cfm?pid=visit_directionsCampusMap.html.
There is a practice schedule change for Age Group II only for tomorrow. Age Group II will train from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm in the outdoor pool. All swimmers in this group who do not have school tomorrow are encouraged to attend this practice. Swimmers who absolutely can not make the morning time may swim with Senior White Thursday evening from 5:45-8:00.
If you have a swimmer who is new to MAC, please make sure that you turn in a copy of the swimmer’s birth certificate to the registration file or email it to Ed Goundry at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. Your swimmer can not be registered with USA Swimming without it. Also, for any swimmer who tried out and has decided not to continue with MAC, please make sure to email Ed Goundry if you have not already done so.
For those of you wondering when you might see a bill for the current session, have no fear! The bills are on the way. We are still in the process of finalizing our rosters and adding new swimmers. Once this process is complete, you will receive a bill via e-mail.
MAC will be holding orientation meetings for interested new and returning parents this Saturday, September 15th. This will be a "nuts-and-bolts" overview of our team and the swimming world to educate parents on such areas as meet participation/entries, time standards, conditioning strategy, MAC finances/corporate governance, swimming gear, USA/Maryland swimming and other topics related to our sport. This meeting will also be a chance to talk with MAC's head coach and some members of our Board of Directors. Two sessions will be held on Saturday, one from 9:30-10:30 and a second from 10:30-11:30. We are still finalizing the location and will provide information on our website as soon as possible.
On Sunday, there will be a MAC Welcome-Back Pool Party from 5:15-7:15 pm in the outdoor pool. Get to know your teammates, enjoy the "bubble-less" outdoor pool and have fun! MAC will be supplying free pizza, drinks, and Rita's Ice for all swimmers. Family members are welcome and may also eat for a $5 per family member (maximum of $10 per family) fee. Please RSVP to either Deb Reynolds (email@example.com) or Helene Williams (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Friday at noon so we may order enough food. Hope to see you there!
Don't forget, the bubble will be going up on Saturday, September 22nd at 8:00 am. We ask that every family provide help, but especially our big, strong, dads and older swimmers. There is also prep work that needs to be completed next week prior to the raising. If you are available at any time next week, please contact Don Feinberg, at 301-696-3484, and let him know.
On Sunday, September 23rd, Maryland Swimming will be hosting their annual Officials clinic, beginning at 8:00 am at UMBC in Catonsville. This clinic is a must for any previously certified officials to maintain their currency. In addition, it is open to anyone who is interested in becoming a Maryland certified official. More information may be found at www.mdswim.org/Officials/Annual%20Maryland%20Swimming%20Officials%20Clinic%202007.pdf.
The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:40, Age Group I from 6:00-7:45, and Senior Prep from 8:00-9:00 all in the outdoor pool. There is no practice today for Senior White, Age Group II, Novice, or Masters.
