First, an important update regarding parking while at Hood

This is the MAC News for Thursday, September 20th.

First, an important update regarding parking while at Hood.  Due to some miscommunications, we have disseminated some incorrect information regarding allowable parking areas for MAC families on the Hood campus.  Campus Safety has asked that we use the Chapel Lot ONLY, if it is necessary to park on campus.  While not extremely close to the pool area, it is a beautiful walk through the center of campus.  A map of campus may be found here - www.hood.edu/welcome/visit.cfm?pid=visit_directionsCampusMap.html.  If you have any ideas for improving the parking situation, please forward them to either Don Feinberg (feinberg@hood.edu) or Rick Puller, Chief of Campus Safety (puller@hood.edu) for review.

Don't forget, entries for the CAA Early Season Mini & Mid Distance Meet (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/CAA_Oct_07_Meet_Noticefinal.doc) October 13 & 14, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by 6:00 pm TODAY.  This meet is open to our 8 & Under swimmers only.  A maximum of 4 events per day are allowed at a cost of $4.50 per event plus the $3.00 surcharge (paid once, not per event).  As always, if you have questions regarding your child's entries, please talk to your child's coach.

Remember, there are changes to the practice schedule for tomorrow that affect all groups.  Seniors Red, Black, and White will train from 5:15-6:45 am.  These swimmers are also expected to return to the pool at 4:00 pm to help with the remaining prep work before the bubble raising on Saturday (be prepared to get wet).  Age Groups I and II will swim from 10:00-11:45 am.  Novice, Senior Prep, and Masters are all off on Friday.

On Saturday, all regularly scheduled practices are cancelled due to the bubble raising.  We ask every family to join us at 8:00 (or as soon as you can get there) Saturday morning to help with the bubble.  Be sure to wear old clothes and shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.

All currently certified Maryland Swimming officials and those interested in becoming certified should plan to attend the annual Officials Clinic to be held in Lecture Hall 3 (across from the pool building) at UMBC, beginning at 8:00 am.  This clinic is a must for returning officials to maintain their currency.

The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:15, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the outdoor pool.  Novice I will be in the indoor pool from 5:30-6:30 and Novice II and III will be there as well from 6:30-7:30.  There is no practice today for Age Group I.
