We would like to thank several MAC board members for their service

This is the MAC News for Wednesday, September 19th.

We would like to thank several MAC board members for their service as they turn over their positions and return to the board as Trustees.  First, Helen Pearson has been mentoring Ed Goundry as the new Registration person.  Registration questions should now be directed to Ed at fgoundry@vglaw.org.  Curt Southern is taking over the meet entry position from Terri Kolovich.  All questions regarding meet entries will find Curt at curtis.southern@us.army.mil.  Finally, Adam Frank has sent out his last set of bills as our billing treasurer.  Any questions regarding billing should be directed to Fred Manning, at least temporarily, at fredmanning@comcast.net.  Thank you Helen, Terri, and Adam for your time and talents!

Many of you should have received your first bill of the new season via e-mail yesterday.  Others, mostly new families, will receive your bill via the regular mail in the next day or two.  If you wish to take advantage of the payment plan, please pay the first installment immediately, followed by the 2nd payment by Oct. 15th and the 3rd by Nov. 15th.  While the e-mail address listed on the bill for Fred Manning will still reach him, Fred's current e-mail is as listed above, fredmanning@comcast.net

As mentioned yesterday, there are some practice schedule changes for Friday.  Seniors Red, Black, and White will train from 5:15-6:45 am and Age Groups I and II from 10:00-11:45 am all in the outdoor pool.  Now, here is the very important part.  ALL SENIOR SWIMMERS ARE EXPECTED TO RETURN TO THE POOL AT 4:00 pm ON FRIDAY EVENING TO HELP WITH THE BUBBLE PREP.   Without EVERYONE'S help (parents, we could use your help as well), we will not be able to get the tarp across the pool and will not be able to raise the bubble.  If your Senior swimmer can only come to the pool once on Friday, please be sure they come at 4:00.

On that note, we will be raising the bubble on Saturday beginning at 8:00 am.  If you have never helped with the bubble before or if you forget what is involved, here is what to expect.  All practices will be cancelled on Saturday as we need everyone's help, but especially our big, strong, dads and older swimmers.  The older swimmers should be ready to get in the water.  The job can be dirty and wet, so wear old clothes and shoes.  Lightweight work or garden gloves can be helpful.  We also need crescent wrenches and socket wrenches in the following sizes:  15/16, 9/16, 5/8, and 1/2.  Please label your tools to be sure you go home with them.  The job usually lasts several hours, but we welcome everyone's help for as long as they can stay.  If you can't come right at 8:00, please come when you can.  There is certainly plenty to do at noon or after, helping to wrap things up.

We are still in need of help with the prep work that needs to be completed this week prior to the bubble raising.  If you are available at any time this week, including during your child's practice, please contact Don Feinberg, at 301-696-3484, and let him know.

There is an additional meet some MAC swimmers will be attending that was not on the original meet schedule.  Swimmers in Senior Red, Black, and White, who are 13 years old and older (this is a change from yesterday), with BB times or faster, will be attending a quad meet with Eagle Swim Team, York YMCA, and GTAC at the McDonogh pool in Owings Mills on Saturday, October 20th.  The meet will be in the afternoon and Coach Andy plans for his swimmers to train in the morning prior to the meet.  More infornation regarding sign-ups for this meet will be available soon.

On Sunday, Maryland Swimming will be hosting their annual Officials clinic, beginning at 8:00 am at UMBC in Catonsville.  This clinic is a must for any previously certified officials to maintain their currency.  In addition, it is open to anyone who is interested in becoming a Maryland certified official.  More information may be found at www.mdswim.org/Officials/Annual%20Maryland%20Swimming%20Officials%20Clinic%202007.pdf.

The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30 pm,  Age Group I from 6:00-7:45 pm, and Senior Prep from 8:00-9:00 pm all in the outdoor pool.   There is no practice today for Senior White, Age Group II, Novice, or Masters.
