Despite the chilly temperatures, there was a great turn-out for our Welcome Back

This is the MAC News for Monday, September 17th.

Despite the chilly temperatures, there was a great turn-out for our Welcome Back party last evening.  A huge thank you goes to Deb Reynolds and Helene Williams for organizing this wonderful, fun social event for our team!

The meet notice for the Columbia Aquatics Association (CAA) Early Season Mini & Mid Distance Meet ( October 13 & 14, has been posted in the baby pool area of the outdoor pool and on the bulletin board in the indoor pool.  The coaching staff is planning to enter only those swimmers who are 8 & Under.  All entries are due to the meet entry folder, along with a check to cover the fees, by 6:00 pm Thursday.  Swimmers are allowed a maximum of 4 events per day at a cost of $4.50 per event plus the $3.00 surcharge (paid once, not per event).  As always, if you have questions regarding your child's entries, please talk to your child's coach.  PLEASE REMEMBER!  DO NOT REMOVE THE POSTED COPY OF THE MEET NOTICE.  USE THE LINK ABOVE TO PRINT YOUR OWN COPY!

We will be raising the bubble on Saturday beginning at 8:00 am.  If you have never helped with the bubble before or if you forget what is involved, here is what to expect.  All practices will be cancelled on Saturday as we need everyone's help, but especially our big, strong, dads and older swimmers.  The older swimmers should be ready to get in the water.  The job can be dirty and wet, so wear old clothes and shoes.  Lightweight work or garden gloves can be helpful.  We also need crescent wrenches and socket wrenches in the following sizes:  15/16, 9/16, 5/8, and 1/2.  Please label your tools to be sure you go home with them.  The job usually lasts several hours, but we welcome everyone's help for as long as they can stay.  If you can't come right at 8:00, please come when you can.  There is certainly plenty to do at noon or after, helping to wrap things up.  There is also prep work that needs to be completed this week prior to the raising.  If you are available at any time this week, please contact Don Feinberg, at 301-696-3484, and let him know.

On Sunday, Maryland Swimming will be hosting their annual Officials clinic, beginning at 8:00 am at UMBC in Catonsville.  This clinic is a must for any previously certified officials to maintain their currency.  In addition, it is open to anyone who is interested in becoming a Maryland certified official.  More information may be found at

The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:45 pm, Senior White from 5:45-8:00 pm, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00 pm, and Senior Prep from 8:00-9:00 pm all in the outdoor pool.  Age Group I will be in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15 pm.  There is no practice today for Novice or Masters.
