There were lots of great swims this past weekend at the UMBC pool

This is the MAC News for Monday, October 8th.

There were lots of great swims this past weekend at the UMBC pool.  A complete wrap-up will be posted here once the meet results are available.

Congratulations to Coach Jeb who recently competed in the Towson University alumni swim meet and came home with the gold medal in the 50 free!

The bulk order form for MAC Speedo apparel (suits, bags, sweats, etc.) will be available in everyone's folder this evening after 6:00 pm.  Additional copies will be placed on top of the file cabinet.  Simply take your order form to Pools, Patios, and Porches no later than October 27th to receive the discounted prices.  Anything in stock may be purchased on the spot.  The remaining items will be ordered.  Also, be aware there are coupons attached to the order form this year for additional items available at the store.

On a similar note, don't forget that Pools, Patios, and Porches will be hosting an Aquatic Fitness Open House on Saturday from 9:30-3:30.  Speedo will be there featuring many new products.

There are 3 meet notices currently posted in the baby pool area of the bubble.  The first is for the NBAC Fall Fastival (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/2007_NBAC_Fall_FASTival_Meet_Notice2.doc), November 2-4 at UMBC.  This meet is open to 13 and older swimmers with "A" times or faster and 9-12 year olds with "BB" times or faster.  Swimmers with at least 2 times that meet the standards may swim up to the meet limit.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder no later than 10:00 am on Saturday, October 13th.  Swimmers may swim 4 events per day (1 event only on Friday) at a cost of $4.50 per event plus the $3.00 surcharge. A note about the Friday events - Coach Jeb will be attending the meet Friday evening to allow MAC swimmers to participate during that session, however, the coaching staff requests that 13 and older swimmers do not enter the 500 free as the session tends to run late.

The second is for the HARY Harvestfest (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/Hfest07MeetNotce.doc), November 10-11 at Magnolia Middle School in Joppa.  This meet is open to our 10&under Novice swimmers only.  Anyone who is 9 or 10 must have slower than "BB" times to enter.  There are no time standards for anyone 8 or younger.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder no later than 10:00 am on Saturday, October 20th.  Swimmers may swim 3 events per day at a cost of $5.00 per event plus the $3.00 surcharge.

The final notice is for the GBSA Thanksgiving Swimfest (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/GBSA_Thanksgiving_Swim_Fest.doc), November 16-18 at the Community College of Baltimore County.  This meet is open to all swimmers 9 and older who are not attending the NBAC Fall Fastival.  There are no time standards for this meet.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder no later than 10:00 am on Saturday, October 20th.  Swimmers may swim 4 events per day (2 on Friday) at a cost of $4.50 per event plus the $3.00 surcharge.

As always, if you are unsure whether your child should attend any of these meets, please speak to your child's coach.

The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble.  Age Group I will be in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15.  There is no practice today for Novice or Masters.
