Congratulations to Margot Manning who was selected to attend USA Swimming's...

This is the MAC News for Friday, February 6th. 

Congratulations to Margot Manning who was selected to attend USA Swimming's 2009 Eastern Zone Select Camp which will be held in May in Buffalo.  Margot was one of 224 swimmers from across the US selected by USA Swimming based on her performances this past summer.  More information regarding the camp will be posted soon on the USA Swimming website - www.usaswimming.org/usasweb/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabId=236&Alias=Rainbow&Lang=en. 

For those of you attending the ASC Senior Meet this weekend, the timeline and psych sheet may be found here - www.teamunify.com/Home.jsp?team=msasc.  Here are some other items of importance - no chairs may be left on deck after a session is over.  No swimmers will be permitted to sit behind the blocks or on or around the hot tub.  There are no assigned lanes for warm-up.  The coaching staff is asking that ALL swimmers be at the pool 1 1/2 hours prior to the start of the session they are swimming in.  Warm-up times are as follows - Saturday and Sunday morning - 6:30 am, Saturday 12&U session - 12:00 pm, Saturday Open evening - 4:30, and Sunday afternoon - 12:15. 

The meet notice for the Maryland Swimming Championship meet ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/2009_Maryland_Swimming_Championship_Meet.htm) has been posted.  The meet is scheduled for March 5-8 and will be conducted at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  This meet is open to swimmers who meet or beat the qualifying times.  The fee for participation is $59.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by 12:00 pm TOMORROW.  If you have any questions as to whether your child should attend this meet, please speak to your child's coach.  Don't worry, swimmers who qualify at either the ASC Senior meet or the GBSA Last Chance meet will be added to the team's entries (be sure to let your swimmer's coach know that they qualified and wish to attend). 

The meet notice for the CAA Fabulous February Meet (www.mdswim.org/Assets/Meet+Page/Meet+Notices/08-09/CAA+Fabulous+February+Meet.doc) has been posted.  This meet is scheduled for February 21-22 and will be conducted at the Howard Community College Pool.  This meet is open to JUST our Novice swimmers AGE 8 and UNDER.  The fee for one day is $23 and the fee for two days is $43.  THERE IS A VERY SHORT TURNAROUND TIME FOR THIS MEET.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by TOMORROW at 12:00 pm.  If you have any questions as to whether your child should attend this meet, please speak to your child's coach.

 The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble.  Age Group I will swim in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15.  There is no practice today for Novice.  Saturday's practice schedule will be as follows -  Seniors Red, Black, and White and Age Group II will all swim from 8:30-10:30 am in the bubble.  (High School swimmers competing in Counties may come at 8:00 if they wish).  Age Group I and Novice practices will remain the same - Age Group I from 7:30-9:00 am in the indoor pool and Novice from 10:30-11:30 am in the bubble.  Seniors will have morning practice on Monday from 5:15-6:30.
