There have been some schedule changes for the RAC meet...

This is the MAC News for Wednesday, January 14th.

There have been some schedule changes for the RAC meet this coming weekend that affect the afternoon sessions on all three days.  Warm-ups for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday afternoon will run from 12:30-1:20 and the sessions will begin at 1:30.

There are some practice schedule changes for Saturday and Monday due to the RAC Meet.  Any Senior Red or Black swimmer who is not attending the RAC meet on Saturday should plan to swim with Senior White from 9:00-10:30.  On Monday, ALL Seniors swimmers (Red, Black, and White) not attending the RAC meet will swim from 7:00-9:00 am in the bubble.  There will be no afternoon practice on Monday for these groups.

On the MAC bulletin board in the bubble hallway, a petition has been posted for those interested in voicing their opposition to the elimination of any sport in Frederick County Public Schools.  At the current time, there is a proposal by the Board of Education to eliminate freshman athletics and high school swimming.  If high school swimming is eliminated, MAC will lose its venue for the Hogan Meet, our greatest source of fundraising revenue.  We will also lose our back up practice venues as the pools will be permanently closed.  Please stop by the bulletin board in the hallway of the bubble and consider signing the petition voicing your opposition to the closing of the three FCPS swimming pools.

Don't forget, the MAC Board will be meeting this evening at 6:30 pm in the law offices of Varner & Goundry in downtown Frederick.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  The agenda may be found here - www.macswim.net/files/MACBoardAgenda1709.doc

TOMORROW is the deadline for entries for the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet cover design contest.  All entries should be placed in the Reynolds folder.

Ads for the Hogan meet program are due to the Washabaugh folder by next Wednesday, January 21st.

Entries for the ASC Senior Invitational ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/Annapolis_Swim_Club_Senior_Invitational_Meet.htm), February 7-8, at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center in Annapolis, are due by 12:00 pm Saturday.

The meet notice for the GBSA Last Chance State Championship Qualifying meet ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/GBSA_Last_Chance_State_Championship_Qualifying_Meet.htm)hasbeen posted.  This meet is open to all swimmers 9 and older with times slower than the MD LSC Championship qualifying times (www.mdswim.org/Assets/Swimmer+Page/Time+Standards/2009+MSCM+Quals.xls).  The meet is scheduled for February 13-15 at the Community College of Baltimore County.  Fees are as follows:  Friday - $13, Saturday = $23 and Sunday = $23.  All entries, along with a check made payable to MAC, are due to the meet entry folder by 6:00 pm, Friday, January 23rd.  If you have questions as to whether your child should attend either of these meets, please speak to your child's coach.

The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Age Group I from 6:00-7:45, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble.  There is no practice today for Senior White, Age Group II, or Novice.
