Congratulations to Lauren James, who, last weekend at the GBSA meet

This is the MAC News for Tuesday, November 20th.

Congratulations to Lauren James, who, last weekend at the GBSA meet, in her last meet as a 9-10, finished first in 4 events - 100 back, 50 free, 50 fly, and 100 free, achieved a Top 16 reportable time in the 100 back, and set a new team record in the 9-10 girls 200 breaststroke!!  Way to go!

There are some minor changes to the practice schedule for the rest of the week that affect Age Groups I and II.  On Wednesday, Coach Jeb is asking that Age Group II swimmers join Age Group I from 6:00-7:45 pm in the bubble since there is no practice on Thursday.  In addition, Age Group I will have the day off on Saturday.

Are you looking for some great Christmas presents for your MAC swimmer??  Helene Williams will be in the bubble beginning at 5:30 this evening to facilitate MAC gear orders (T-shirts, sweatshirts, blankets, shorts, hats, etc.).  She will also be at the pool several days next week - days and times TBA.  Delivery is expected in time for Christmas.  Place your order today!

The meet notice for the GTAC/MAC Winter Frolics meet (, December 14-16, at McDaniel College in Westminster, has been posted at both pools.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by next Tuesday, November 27th.  This meet is open to any MAC swimmer who would like to participate, regardless of the time standards.  Coach Andy is asking all Senior Red swimmers to train on Saturday morning and chose at least one event to swim on Sunday.  Senior Black is encouraged to swim on both days and Senior White on all three days.

We are co-hosts of this meet and as such, are required to provide timers for all sessions and donations to the concession stand.  Be on the lookout for a sign-up sheet for these opportunities soon!  Remember, as members of this club, each family is required to provide a volunteer for at least 2 sessions of the meets we host.  This one is great one to volunteer for as the swimmers are down on the deck with the coaches and do not require parental supervision.

Don't forget, Renee Hyrkas will be placing a SCRIP order soon, so place your order now.  The cards make great Christmas gifts and it's an easy way to raise some money for our team!  Please direct all questions to Renee at

The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:15, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble.  Novice I will be in the indoor pool from 5:30-6:30 and Novice II and III will be there as well from 6:30-7:30.  There is no practice today for Age Group I.  Seniors will have morning practice tomorrow (Senior White should plan to attend as well!) from 5:15-6:30.
