If your swimmer is attending the NBAC meet this weekend....

This is the MAC News for Monday, December 8th.

If your swimmer is attending the NBAC meet this weekend and you have not signed up to fill one of our required timing slots, Helene Williams is still looking for someone to fill a slot for the second half of Saturday finals and someone for Sunday afternoon (12&U prelim session).  If you are interested, Helene may be reached at 301-607-6475 or dandhwilliams@aol.com.

The psych sheets for the NBAC Meet may be found here - www.macswim.net/node/806.

On that same note, please be aware that the because we are cohosting the upcoming Winter Frolics meet with Green Terror in Westminster, we are required to provide half of the meet staff.  It is MAC's policy that each family provide volunteers for at least 2 sessions of the meets we host (this one - open to swimmers in all age groups and the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini meet in February - open to 10 & under swimmers).  The sessions can be at one or the other or a combination of the two.  Sign-up sheets for the Winter Frolics meet will be posted soon or you may contact Helene Williams directly at the number or e-mail address above.

There has been a practice schedule change for Friday that affects Age Group I and II swimmers not at the NBAC Christmas meet.  They will swim together from 4:30-6:15 in the bubble.

If you placed an order for Marriott SCRIP cards, the cards are in.  Please contact Renee Hyrkas (rhyrkas@hyrk1.com) to arrange pickup.  A few additional cards are available - contact Renee if you are interested.  Renee still has $100 Superfresh cards (or 4 $25 cards) available for $90 as well.

THERE HAS BEEN A SLIGHT CHANGE TO THE INFORMATION DISTRIBUTED LAST WEEK REGARDING THE 3 MEET NOTICES CURRENTLY POSTED.  The deadline for entries, along with a check made payable to MAC for the fees, for ALL THREE meets is still 6:00 pm MONDAY, DECEMBER 15th.  This is the day after the Christmas Meet and most swimmers competing in the meet have the day off, so don't forget to get your entries in early.  THE CHANGE IS THAT THERE WILL BE A FOURTH MEET THAT MAC WILL BE ATTENDING IN JANUARY, THE MSC WINTER INVITATIONAL.  THIS MEET WILL BE HELD JAN. 9-11 AND WILL BE FOR SWIMMERS WITH BB TIMES AND SLOWER.  SENIOR WHITE SWIMMERS, IN PARTICULAR, SHOULD PLAN TO ATTEND THIS MEET - NOT THE BAAC MEET.  MORE INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED AS SOON AS THE MEET NOTICE IS AVAILABLE.

In the meantime, here is the information again regarding the three meets that are posted.  The first is for the BAAC New Year's Splash "B" Age Group and 8 & Under Mini-Meet ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/Bel_Air_Aquatic_Club__BAAC__Splash.htm).  This meet is scheduled for January 3-4 and will be conducted at Burdick Hall, Towson University.  The meet is open to swimmers with SLOWER than "BB" times.  Fees are as follows:  1 day = $21 or 2 days = $39.  The second is the EST Speedo Distance/IMX Challenge ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/The_Eagle_Swim_Team_Speedo_Distance_IMX_Challenge.htm) to be held January 3-4 at the Henry Rosenberg Aquatice Center on the campus of the McDonogh School in Ownings Mills.  This meet is open to swimmers age 11 and older.  There are no time standards for this meet.  The MAC coaching staff does not plan to enter any of our swimmers in the 500 free.  Fees are as follows - 1 day = $27 or 2 days = $49.  The final meet notice is for the RAC Classic Invitational ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/2009_Retriever_Classic_Invitational.htm) scheduled for January 16-19 to be held at UMBC.  MAC will only be attending the meet on Saturday and Sunday.  This meet is open to swimmers with "A" times and faster.  Fees are as follows - 1 day = $21 or 2 days = $39.  As always, if you have any questions as to whether your child should attend any of these meets, please speak to their coach.

The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-5:30, Senior White swimmers attending the NBAC meet from 5:30-6:30, the rest of Senior White and all of Age Group II from 5:30-7:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble.  Age Group I will swim in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15. There is no practice today for Novice.
