November 15, 2007
This is the MAC News for Thursday, November 15th.
There has been a schedule change for the GBSA meet this weekend. The afternoon session on SUNDAY ONLY will begin 1/2 hour earlier. Warm-ups will still begin at 12:00 but the session will start at 1:30. In addition, please be aware that MAC's warm-ups for the morning sessions are scheduled to begin at 6:40 am.
It's almost a week past the deadline and we still have a few swimmers who haven't turned in their 2008 USA Swimming Registration and payment ($64 made payable to MAC)! If you have not yet completed this process, please do so today! If your child is planning to stop swimming at the end of December, please let Ed Goundry know (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you pay your MAC dues on the installment plan, don't forget the final payment of the first trimester is due NOW. Please be sure your account is up to date by the end of the week. This includes both the dues and the Annual Fundraising fee. Contact Fred Manning at email@example.com any questions or problems. We are a volunteer organization and appreciate your prompt payment!
For those of you who do not yet have hotel accomodations for the Christmas meet, the team has reserved several blocks of rooms for Dec. 6-9. These rooms will be released back to the public TODAY! Details may be found in last Friday's news. Please be aware that our club also has these hotels reserved for the State Meet Feb. 27- March 2nd. Families may make reservations now.
The meet notice for the GTAC/MAC Winter Frolics meet (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/2007GTACMACWINTERFROLICSMEETNOTICErev.doc), December 14-16, at McDaniel College in Westminster, has been posted at both pools. All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by Tuesday, November 27th. This meet is open to any MAC swimmer who would like to participate, regardless of the time standards. Coach Andy is asking all Senior Red swimmers to train on Saturday morning and chose at least one event to swim on Sunday. Senior Black is encouraged to swim on both days and Senior White on all three days.
We are co-hosts of this meet and as such, are required to provide timers for all sessions and donations to the concession stand. Be on the lookout for a sign-up sheet for these opportunities soon! Remember, as members of this club, each family is required to provide a volunteer for at least 2 sessions of the meets we host. This one is great one to volunteer for as the swimmers are down on the deck with the coaches and do not require parental supervision.
Don't forget, Renee Hyrkas will be placing a SCRIP order in about a week, so place your order now. It's an easy way to raise some money for our team. Please direct all questions to Renee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:15, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble. Novice I will be in the indoor pool from 5:30-6:30 and Novice II and III will be there as well from 6:30-7:30. There is no practice today for Age Group I. Remember, Seniors DO NOT have morning practice tomorrow.
