November 7, 2008
This is the MAC News for Friday, November 7th.
TODAY is the deadline to return your 2009 USA Swimming registration form and $65 check (made payable to MAC) to the Membership/Registration folder. Don't forget, current registrations (this does NOT include swimmers new to MAC) will expire on December 31st. Registrations must remain current in order for your swimmer to practice and compete. Any questions should be directed to Ed Goundry at email@example.com.
There is a minor practice schedule change for tomorrow that affects Senior Red and Black. There will be NO Senior Red and Black practice tomorrow morning. Any swimmer in either of these groups that is not attending the NBAC meet tomorrow should plan to attend practice with Senior White from 9:00-10:30 am.
There is also a practice schedule change for NEXT weekend that will affect Age Group I. Any Age Group I swimmer not attending the GBSA meet should plan to swim with Age Group II from 9:00-10:30 am in the bubble. There will be NO regular Saturday practice next week for Age Group I.
Don't forget, if you pay your MAC dues on the installment plan, your final payment of the trimester is due next Saturday, November 15th. Payment may be dropped in the Dues folder at Hood or mailed to Fred Manning, whose address is on your bill. If you have questions regarding your bill, Fred may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org. Swimmers whose accounts are not kept current will be unable to participate in practices or meets.
Ever wonder what those colorful patches are adorning many of our swimmers' bags? MAC participates in a chevron recognition program. Swimmers of all ages may earn chevrons (one per stroke per age group) by achieving certain time standards set up by USA Swimming. The time standards may be found here - www.usaswimming.org/USASWeb/_Rainbow/Documents/615cb613-530e-4dfc-abfc-8e6926773ac5/2012MotivationalTimes-Top16.pdf. You will notice that the standards are divided into 3 groups - Long Course Meters (MAC competes in these pools in the summer months), Short Course Yards (MAC competes in these pools from now until approximately May), and Short Course Meters (MAC does NOT compete in these pools). If you are interested in participating, once your child achieves a standard for the first time, fill out the Chevron request form located in the Chevron folder of the file cabinet in the baby pool area and return it to the WILLIAMS folder. Chevrons earned will be placed in your swimmer's folder. Also, J&M Dry Cleaners (located between the AAA and the barber shop in the Giant Eagle shopping center on 7th Street) can put grommets in the chevrons to allow for easier attachment to your swimmer's bag. In addition, Maryland Swimming provides AAAA bag tags for any swimmer achieving a AAAA time (one per stroke) for the first time. These will automatically accompany a AAAA chevron if it is the first time a AAAA time has been achieved in that stroke by a swimmer. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Helene Williams at email@example.com.
If you placed an apparel order at the Welcome Back pool party back in August and wish to determine the status of your order, please contact Linda Adams at 301-865-5069.
