October 20, 2008
This is the MAC News for Monday, October 20th.
Congratulations to everyone who competed in the CAA meet this past weekend. A recap will be posted here when the complete results are available.
Congratulations also goes to former MAC swimmer, Laurel Brabson, who was named to the 2007-2008 USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team. Laurel was named to the team all 3 years she was eligible, maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career, and achieving the qualifying time standards each year. Anyone still interested in dropping off their Joe Corbi's fundraiser forms may do so TODAY. Orders will be available for pickup on Saturday, November 1st at 11:30 am. Questions should be directed to Cheryl Knapp at 240-394-0226 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All RETURNING swimmers must complete the 2009 USA Swimming registration form that was placed in the family folders this week and return it, along with a $65 check (made payable to MAC), to the Membership/Registration folder no later than Friday, November 7th. Current USA Swimming registrations expire at the end of December and swimmers will not be permitted to compete or attend practice unless their registration is current. Any questions should be directed to Ed Goundry at email@example.com. Swimmers new to MAC have already completed this step.
Pools, Patios, and Porches is currently running a Bulk Buy MAC swim suit and apparel order. Order forms should be available at the pool sometime this week. The items included in the order are available all year, but this one time Bulk Buy offers you savings of 10-20% above the standard MAC discounts. Items are on display at the store for correct sizing. You may place your order in person at the store or by phone, fax, or e-mail. All orders must be received by Saturday, November 1st. Here is the contact information:

In addition, Speedo has notified all of its dealers that they are running extremely short on their championship suits (FSII, FSPro, and LZR) due to the worldwide success of the Olympics. Because of this, Pools, Patios, and Porches is trying to stock up early on these suits. If you know that your swimmer will be needing a new suit for the Christmas meet in December or any of the season-ending meets in Feb/Mar, please contact Paul Gorgol at the store by NOVEMBER 15th to let him know which type of suit and a size so he can do his best to have that suit on hand. If your swimmer is 12 years old or younger, please be aware that beginning in May 2009, USA Swimming has banned suits that extend above the neck, past the shoulder, or below the knee for swimmers of this age. Think twice about spending extra money on a legskin or full body suit for these swimmers!
The annual Novice Halloween party will be held on Thursday, October 30th from 5:30-6:30 in the indoor pool instead of swim practice. Swimmers are asked to wear their Halloween costumes to practice. There will be a costume parade in the bubble, games and activities, as well as food. The coaches are asking that swimmers with last names beginning with A-J bring some type of snack (chips, dips, fruit, veggies, etc.), K-P bring a dessert, and Q-Z bring drinks. Please not bring any food or desserts containing nuts because several of the swimmers are allergic. If you have any questions please contact Coach Ashley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble. Age Group I will be in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15. There is no practice today for Novice.
