Can't believe the summer is just about over!

This is the MAC News for Friday, August 22nd.

Can't believe the summer is just about over!  Here are a few remainders for the upcoming season.

First, the second to last try-out for the upcoming season will take place on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am in the indoor pool at Hood.  Please pass the word to anyone you know who might be interested in giving MAC a try.  The final try-out will take place next Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 pm, also in the indoor pool.  Any questions should be directed to Head Coach Andy Lehner at 301-748-0916 or laneman52@hotmail.com.

Senior Red and Black will begin practice on Wednesday.  Practices on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will run from 6:15-8:00 pm (NOTE THE TIME CHANGE) to allow for at least some pool time that is not shared with the Hood patrons (the Hood pool is open to the public until 7:00 pm through Labor Day).  There will be NO practice on Saturday next week.  The remaining groups will begin practice on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd (Senior White, Senior Prep, Age Group II, Novice, and Masters) or Wednesday, Sept. 3rd (Age Group I).  At this point, practice times will be the same as last fall.  There is a possibility that Novice times may change due to the large number of new swimmers in these groups.  Also, beginning this fall, Senior Prep and Masters will train 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) from 8:00-9:00 pm.

Calling all current officials and those of you interested in becoming a USA Swimming certified official - the Annual Maryland Swimming Officials Clinic will take place on Sunday, September 21st from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm at UMBC.  This is a must for all current officials to maintain their eligibility.  It is also the place to be if you are interested in becoming an official.  Everyone should plan to be in attendance at 8:00 am.  There will be separate break out sessions for each level of official as in years past but there will be changes to the program.  More information will be available soon on the Maryland Swimming website, www.mdswim.org.

Enjoy your last few days of summer break!
