To thank everyone who participated in the Splash for Cash this past weekend

This is the MAC News for Monday, January 7th.

We want to thank everyone who participated in the Splash for Cash this past weekend.  A great time was had by all and we raised almost $2000!  If you have not yet turned in your donations, please remember to do so by check (made payable to MAC).  Checks should be placed in the Manning folder by Saturday.  A huge thank you goes to senior swimmer Katie Serfling, who organized the event.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in either the BAAC Splash or the EST Distance IMX Challenge this past weekend.  MAC swimmers turned in lots of best times.  Holly Coffey was the winner of the 9-10 girls 100 free at the BAAC meet and Laurel Brabson was a double winner, taking both the 400 IM and the 200 backstroke at the EST Meet.  Way to go!

Lauren James lost a small video camera in a black Samsonite camera bag at the EST meet this past weekend.  If anyone happened to pick it up, please contact Lauren's mom, Toni, at toni@jamesonline.us.

The meet notice for the MSC Winter Invitational (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/JAN_2008_MSC_Meet_Notice.doc) to be held January 19 and 20 at Loyola College has been posted.  This meet is open to swimmers with "BB" times and slower.  Senior White swimmers should note that their group will only be attending the meet on Saturday and all Senior White swimmers will compete in the Open events.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by 8:00 pm Tuesday.

Three new meet notices were posted over the weekend.  First, the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/2008_Hogan_meet_notice_Final.doc), a meet that we host at Frederick High School February 2nd and 3rd, is open to ALL 10 and unders swimmers.  Entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by Saturday at 11:00 am.  On February 9th and 10th, ASC is hosting their invitational (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/ASC_Senior_Meet_2008_(2).doc) in Annapolis.  Coach Andy is asking all swimmers or their parents to talk to their coach to determine whether to enter this meet or the GBSA Last Chance meet (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/GBSA_Last_Chance_State_Qualifier_meet_notice.doc)the following weekend.  Entries for the ASC meet, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by 6:00 pm Monday, January 16th.  GBSA meet entries and fees are due by 11:00 am on Saturday.

The Robert J. Hogan Memorial Mini Meet is fast approaching and preparation of the 2008 Meet program is underway. The Hogan meet is MAC’s biggest fundraiser of the year, with a significant portion of our club's operating budget relying upon its proceeds.  In addition, the profits help to keep our membership fees down as well as provide funding of pool maintenance and repair costs.  Please help MAC by purchasing an ad for your family, OR, by securing an ad from a local business.  An copy of the ad form is may be found here (www.macswim.net/files/fundraising_letterhead1.doc). Please contact Renee Hyrkas, rhyrkas@hyrk1.com with questions.
