MAC will be holding a Splash for Cash swim-a-thon on Saturday

This is the MAC News for Thursday, January 3rd. 

MAC will be holding a Splash for Cash swim-a-thon on Saturday during normal practice.  Don't forget this fundraiser!  It is being organized by one of our senior swimmers, Katie Serfling.  Come to your regular practice session this Saturday, January 5th and swim up to 200 laps to raise money for MAC. Food and beverages will be provided. Please plan on attending and getting as many sponsors as possible for your swimming efforts. The meet notice for the MSC Winter Invitational ( to be held January 19 and 20 at Loyola College has been posted.  This meet is open to swimmers with "BB" times and slower.  Senior White swimmers should note that their group will only be attending the meet on Saturday and all Senior White swimmers will compete in the Open events.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by 8:00 pm Tuesday. 

E-mail bills for the current trimester (January - April) went out yesterday ("snail mail" is being sent today).  If you have received your bill via e-mail in the past and did not get one yesterday, please contact Fred Manning at  Also, please be aware that the billing was based on group placement for the last trimester.  Some swimmers are changing groups at this time and bills will be adjusted once the changes are communicated to Fred. 

The Robert J. Hogan Memorial Mini Meet is fast approaching and preparation of the 2008 Meet program is underway. The Hogan meet is MAC’s biggest fundraiser of the year, with a significant portion of our club's operating budget relying upon its proceeds.  In addition, the profits help to keep our membership fees down as well as provide funding of pool maintenance and repair costs.  Please help MAC by purchasing an ad for your family, OR, by securing an ad from a local business.  An updated ad form is attached for your convenience ( Please contact Renee Hyrkas, with questions. 

Did you know Maryland Swimming license plates are still available for purchase?  For 2008, pay a one time fee of $45 ($15 goes to Maryland Swimming) and get your very own MSI organizational license plate, transferrable to any new car.  These are not to be confused with vanity plates.  If your car isn't cool, your license plate can be!  Contact Bridget Vache at bvache@verizon.netfor more details. 

The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:15, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble.  Novice I will be in the indoor pool from 5:30-6:30 and Novice II and III will be there as well from 6:30-7:30.  There is no practice today for Age Group I.  Seniors will have morning practice tomorrow from 5:15-6:30.
