January 2, 2008
This is the MAC News for Wednesday, January 2, 2008 (yes, I got the year correct today!).
There are some practice schedule changes for today, some continuing for the rest of the trimester. First, since there is a meet this weekend that some Age Group 2 swimmers are attending, any interested Age Group 2 swimmer is invited to attend practice this evening with Age Group 1 from 6:00-7:45 in the bubble. Beginning today, for the rest of this trimester, Senior Prep will swim on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Masters from 8:00-9:00 pm and on Mondays and Fridays with Senior White from 5:45-8:00 pm. This means there is no Senior Prep practice this evening!
MAC will be holding a Splash for Cash swim-a-thon on Saturday during normal practice. The money raised will be used to replace old, worn out, or damaged equipment and to buy some new things as well. All swimmers should have received an information sheet and donation form in their folders. If you didn't get a copy of the paperwork or if you have any questions about the event, please contact MAC Senior swimmer, Katie Serfling, at either firstname.lastname@example.org at 301-874-2481.
The meet notice for the MSC Winter Invitational (www.mdswim.org/Schedule/JAN_2008_MSC_Meet_Notice.doc) to be held January 19 and 20 at Loyola College has been posted. This meet is open to swimmers with "BB" times and slower. Senior White swimmers should note that their group will only be attending the meet on Saturday and all Senior White swimmers will compete in the Open events. All entries, along with a check to cover the fees, are due to the meet entry folder by 8:00 pm Tuesday.
Billing for the current trimester (January - April) will be going out this week. Since this is Fred Manning's first time actually sending the bills, he will be sending them via e-mail and "snail mail" to ensure their arrival.
The Robert J. Hogan Memorial Mini Meet is fast approaching and preparation of the 2008 Meet program is underway. The Hogan meet is MAC’s biggest fundraiser of the year, with a significant portion of our club's operating budget relying upon its proceeds. In addition, the profits help to keep our membership fees down as well as provide funding of pool maintenance and repair costs. Please help MAC by purchasing an ad for your family, OR, by securing an ad from a local business. An ad form is attached for your convenience (www.macswim.net/files/Dear_Friends_and_Patrons.doc). Please contact Renee Hyrkas, email@example.com with questions.
Did you know Maryland Swimming license plates are still available for purchase? For 2008, pay a one time fee of $45 ($15 goes to Maryland Swimming) and get your very own MSI organizational license plate, transferrable to any new car. These are not to be confused with vanity plates. If your car isn't cool, your license plate can be! Contact Bridget Vache at firstname.lastname@example.org more details.
The practice schedule for today is back to normal (with the above mentioned exceptions) - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30 and Age Group I and any interested Age Group II swimmers from 6:00-7:45 in the bubble. There is no practice today for Senior White, Senior Prep, Novice, or Masters.
